Confused about driver assistance package
Im looking at buying a 2012 S550. I really like the distrionic cruise control but confused about the options. The car I'm looking at says it has drivers assistance package $2950. - cruise control and blind spot monitor. I know that the features are labeled differently that what the factory says but are there different options with this. Ive read that there is distrionic and distrionic plus w/pre-safe break. I also like all the other features I've read about like active lane keeping assist. Do these come with the drivers assistance package. The car has the plastic cover in the grille that I believe is for the distrionic cruise control. Im looking for clarification about what comes with the drivers assistance package and if there are other options that should be listed with that package.

I'll admit when looking at cars, you start wanting every package when one car has it, and another doesn't, but in reality, if something bothers you and becomes more of an annoyance, than a convenience, you don't need it.

Try to get one with most of the options that you want but keep in mind that you
are looking at CPO's so finding a car with all the options you want in the exact color combo you want in the exact sport or non sport package you want will be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Looks to me like just the bottoms are on, maybe the top is a reflective image so it appears to be on.

Thanks for all the input guys. Ive driven the 2011 and loved it but it didn't have the driver assist package. I really like the new motor, especially since I can tune it at renntech to get 500+ hp. I think ill try to find one near me with the driver assist package and test drive it to see how it works. I just really like the idea of the distrionic cruise control. Any one have any experience with driving one with the ABC suspension. The one I'm looking at has it and wanted to know how differently it drives from the normal system.

Its AMG Sport plus w20" wheels, Black/ Sahara beige(basically white) and black interior, P2, ABC, Driver assistance, rear shades. Everything that I think I want. I like the idea of night vision but heard its nothing special. I put a call into dealer today and they are sending me car facts and aditional photos. Im going to test drive a car today at a dealership that has the drivers assistance package. Hopefully I like it and will be giving them an offer possibly tomorrow!!! Its exactly what I was looking for. Will be my first benz!

Personally, I think the 5.5 "sounds" much better, and I prefer a NA engine.

Car sounds great I hope the deal works out for you. I have the nightview assist and its more of an over the top option that impresses my occupants if anything, however it does come in handy in the suburb im in due to all the deers that run around here at night. I like the options you have and black exterior is sweet just good luck keeping it clean
