No idea what you're trying to say, but I had to have that last line for my new sig. Sounds like maybe you need a new battery?

mike5215 so sorry you right
english is not my first language and wrote from mobile
i did mean waiting for tow truck and the reason is remaining starts jump from 6 to 0 and car did not start
if happened to any one asap ad some adblue when you sign on dash board remaining starts counter does not mean car will start
and once is stop adding adblue won't help to start
and mercedes service is might be slower in the nation for 60k maintenance now i have to wait until tuesday
memorial day
i paid 7k extra to extend the warranty 125k will never do same mistake again any mechanic around new york city will put me on road just in hours and some of them has star diagnosis mercedes software and tools

i drive as limo my car now not working on tuesday costume 600$ and what i got prepaid maintenance is 100$ oil 100$ adblue some small hoses etc.
will never buy prepaid warranty or maintenance

I did not find the W221 manual that covers SCR related topics. Is the W221 different from the W222 which first gives a warning about low AdBlue level. If the AdBlue reservoir is not filled, eventually the car will give a warning: "Refill AdBlue, no start in XXXX km".

First of all, the driver should have a lot of time to fill up the AdBlue tank and secondly the warning is about the distance the car can still be driven, not the number of restarts.

Don't they allow you to purchase AdBlue and let you fill up the reservoir yourself? I know the 221 is a bit more complicated to refill than the latest models (which are filled quite like diesel is filled).

At first it jumped from 4 starts to 0. Then a few posts later it becomes 6 starts to 0. I will call BS on this flamer. He had been ignoring the readout since it reported 20 starts. Serves the driver right for not properly maintaining his vehicle. Then, he has the audacity to blame this on MB? What a tool!

^ Agreed.

I thought all MB AdBlue vehicles gave you a warning, then finally said "Remaining starts: 4". Then the number went down from 4 to 3, 2, 1, zero and then the car won't start.

I believed that you'd refill when you get the warning, but if you got the 4 starts message, you'd consider it an 'emergency' and drive the car straight to the dealer for a refill.

It's like a gas guage when it is on "E" and the tanks is really really close to empty. You map out the very closest gas station and go straight there. You might make it to the next station ,but you could also get stranded.

Someone got lots of warning but chose to ignore it...

i m writing years later same about problem
how many starts remaining is really important or we should focus on problem

edit 2017
def is full remaining start is still there need to drive dealer again
i learned a lot and that starts remaining pushed by EPA regulation not mercedes but absolutely level sensor or software glitch is here again
yes def tank is full top off but still count down have to go asap dealer again because i know it is will go from 9 to zero
i just read to many people had same trouble once remaining start count down come on you have to go dealer thats unbelible the only way reset is das computer of mercedes 4
thanks i m new york and a lot of mechanic has same computer saying hi to stealership in new york city is starts from 300.00..

keep saying lol
sorry for typos pronounces.
DEF remaining start is completely ripp of software glitch.
in the first post i was meant in short
remaining start 6 or 4 gone to zero instantly and i stuck this was 2 years ago.
2017 jan again same problem if count starts you have to go dealer mercedes diagnostic computer whic some mechanic own does not reset it. It should be done only by dealer because it is call SNC coding online connect to mercedes only.
today i reset in dealer paid 300.00$
here we go code is still there.
this is long trouble to explain but in my company has almost 80 drivers who own mercedes S Class most Diesels cars have same problem it cronic.

every thing done proper put genuine mercedes blue def which is much more expensive wait 6 hours at dealer code resetted by dealer it is still there.
this time started from 10
10 reaming start
this is insane why consumer being forced to go dealer only for adding blue def ?
Even i know mercedes sprinter drivers who get sick of his problem.
why after just adding def entire system must be checked one by one test like pump leak etc and it is very hard to reset.

the real trick is if you add when it is half yupp after about 11k miles comes on remaining start
if you wait for count you still have to go delaer
isn't it sucks to going dealer and pay 300.00$ bucks for DEF ?
while other any brand diesel specially big trucks just fill with nozzle like gas for 3.00$ gallon
and we mercedes user pay much much more and still ride to dealer 10 times ?
i dont know the other diesel engines ad cars
but those car and van with 6 cylinder turbo diesel are definitely a LEMON
ohh i forget to add chronic oil leak from engine search forums you see hundreds of them
it is not only me to many pl have complained about this lemon issue i hope some will sue mercedes
sample url not showing but it is under gl class

Stop ignoring messages on dash long before the "countdown of death" and all will be good.

And yes, you can just add def bought at an auto store and all should be good.

My 2014 E250 doesn't have your problems. I ran the DEF down to "0" bought DEF at Walmart. Parked my car on a slight incline so I avoided getting any air lock. Followed the first time start instructions and everything got reset.
My only problem is that I bought pre-paid maintenance an although DEF is a consumable it's NOT covered. So refilled myself. It was as easy as topping off the radiator.

One of the reasons why I shy diesel engines is Ad Blue because it will make you in blue literally when it needs replacement , I don't mean to be nominee for signature just saying
Best of wishes for your dilemma

you must be in europe ?
my guess is us models are more complicated because EPA regulations
w222 no diesel here in usa.
w221 count starts not miles or KM and if you make a google search to many times those starts countdown not in a row it is random sometime mine was jumped from 6 to zero instantly.
and towed
now because of bad experince as soon as i saw the countdown filled up but nope it was keep countdown
whatever long story
this is 3rd time dealer clear countdown code hope will not come back
(many times screen shows 16 and goes 0 again during diagnosing)
but a new problem cames with NOx sensor fail codes
another 900.00$ in parts

nox sensors do go bad. unfortunately. they are however part of the emissions system and carry a longer emissions warranty.

if you are getting non-sequential adblue level messages i would suspect your scr to sensor cabling, sensor and scr computer (in that order)
