2014 Navigation Update
I ordered the just released navigation update disk for my 2007 s550 (v13). It should be here in a few days.
I will post what I discover as new features. As best as I can tell, it's just updates to maps and POI's.

I installed it in my w221. Installation was seamless but did take some time. I started the vehicle and inserted the DVD. It gives and error at start saying it is not a valid disc, but then goes to another screen offering to upgrade. Select Yes and it will take nearly 30min to complete. I had some errands to run so just let it go but did not turn the car off. Finally COMAND rebooted and it was finished.
A quick glance showed a lot more local stuff nearby.

I received the disk today and just installed it. It took 30 minutes to finish. When I first inserted the disk, it gave a message about "Unknown Audio Format", but this disappeared after 2-3 secs and now asked whether I wanted to install the update.
I have not had the chance to use it yet, but from my brief look it looks the same visually. I think it is a bunch of updated maps and lots of new POIs. If someone has a specific question, please ask here or PM me. As far as showing gas stations, etc. I believe you can choose to display those even in the old version. The price of the new disk is $249 plus sales tax. Shipping was free per some promo.

Hard to confirm that without knowing of an example of that near me. They have updated tons of POIs, so I would assume they would have updated the change of a Mobil station to a Shell.

It's been a week since I installed the latest 2014 navigation disk. Other than the updated info, there is no other change that I can see.
I was surprised last night when it could not find a Chinese restaurant that has been around a while in the POi info.
I think in the future I will buy the update every other year - certainly not worth paying $250 for incremental updates. I should have skipped this one or borrowed it from someone else.

You must understand that you NEVER get any new features with map discs. ONLY new maps. To get new and latest features you need a telematics update. ONLY made at the stealership with your car put online for programming . That is also how to get the bird view for cars without it. Again..NOT on map discs.

My update was only $46 US, incremental from 2012 to 2014. This is so much cheaper than it was for my C300 - $225
Well, let me update this post. I got the disks for $46 but i had to go back to the Dealership and pay $204 for the key. However after that jolt$$$$. I did get to use my CTEK 25000 to provide power while I updated the NAV Maps for 45 minutes. The car did ask me to start the car twice and that is due to programmed timing for a specific period of time with the battery on without the engine running, even though I was supplying 13.6 volts and a lot of amps.

The map updates are definitely VERY slow for the San Antonio area. There was a MAJOR freeway interchange constructed and completed about 2 years ago that is not reflected on the 2014 update.

I believe on the NTG3? version there is no "secret menu" to access this information without dealer help. I searched and searched but gave up. Maybe someone out there has better information.
I will say that before updating your navigation version consider what happened to me. I got the disc and updated my 2007 S550 from unknown version (likely 2007) to 2014. At first the update started, took 45 minutes or so and completed successfully. I took it for a drive that night and noticed updated streets that had been constructed a few years ago so I knew the map information was indeed updated.
Over the next week I found that the navigation system would get stuck loading. About 8 out of 10 times it didn't load, instead it said "Loading Navigation..." and would only load if I went to systems settings and hit reset.
I found several posts about this problem on these forums and the fix was to have the dealer update the telematics software. My telematics software had never been updated, not even the 2008 DTB. Once the dealer updated the telematics everything worked fine and I got the famous real-time traffic and bird's eye view as well.

I purchased the 2014 (v13) maps for my 2012 E350 at the local dealership yesterday. They had to get my VIN and create a software key to allow me to install the updates. It took about 2.5 hours from start to finish.
There were 3 DVD's in the package and the map updates only called for 2 of them. Does anybody know what the 3rd DVD in the package is for?

If you have a 2014 car that was purchased January 2014 does the car have the most current update? Or do you need to wait for the 2015 version?

I would check with the dealership on that. I believe the maps that I purchased came out earlier this summer and would be on the 2015 model year cars.
