ABS and ESP currently unavailable message.

Yesterday morning when I start my S550 4matic, the yellow ABS and ESP currently unavailable message came on the dash. I shut off the car and restart, message went away. This morning similar episode. Only thing I did electronically to the car was updated the navigation map to the latest version. Will that causes this problem? Any options will be greatly appreciated.

No, a map update would not affect that at all. How are the batteries? Could be a battery getting low - the one in the trunk or possibly the one under the hood.

Thank you for the reply, Polar Bear. What is the best way to check the battery? Can anyone tell me?

I just replace the battery in the trunk, now the message read ABS and ESP inoperative. Any advice?

I've had this happen to me twice now - the first time in 2008 when the car was 18 months old, and two days ago. Both times it required a wheel sensor to be replaced.

Thank you guys, I will make an appointment with my indie shop to check and replace the sensor.
