post pics of 20s on your car
I've seen plenty of 22 setups...honestly I wanted to keep the rode quality and the ability to drive the car without having to worry about lips, potholes, etc running a 22. Especially lowered...
So can the peeps with 20 inch wheels post pics of your setups? I would like to see how well 20s fill out the fender gap.

I don't have any "Before" because I purchased the car like this with the wheels already, this is also the first time that I have a car with 20s, currently I'm a little on fence; the ride is nice, but I don't think I have the right tires; I'm a Michelin tire guy, and currently she has Sumitomo tires, so I think that the tire compound is influencing the ride dramatically.
Once I install new Michelin's in a few months, I should know better. I know I love the sport mode ride

Tito can you give your tire size? How does it feel over bumps? On my last r230 sl I went with a 20x8 and 20x9 setup with 30 series in front and 25 series tires in back and it rode like ****. And was prone to pot holes and the wheels going out of round. Trying to avoid that this time around lol.

With Michelin Pilot Super Sport 255/35 ZR20 EL .
Yes; noticable difference in ride quality compared to original wheels with 235/55 17 Conti's,which are my winter set.
With the 20's it rides firmer but especially less balloony around corners and bends.
Had it lowered for a while but just too impractical where I live.

marthyh Nice ride Michelin's for life! I'm still trying to figure out why some S550 have the rear side window shades, and some others don't? ( Not trying to hijack the thread, but I noticed them on yours)

Thanks!!! Here in Europe L+R Sunblinds are an individual option (no 297) as well as the rear blind(no 540).

I have the AMG+ 21" wheels on mine now and I feel like the one less inch of rubber really comprimises the ride quality as opposed to my buddy's 20" rims. If you do make the switch let me know if you agree. I am seriously considering downsizing to some 20s even though I just had mine powdercoated black...

This is the info I was looking for...As for me, I did these in 20s...love the concave look.
I have 360 forged mesh 7s on my z and have fallen in love with the setup since. The brushed silver with chrome lip is my favorite and makes any car look classy imo...
They should be here later on this week. I was really really on the conscious about doing a 20 on such a large frame of a car in fear that they might look too small but from some of yalls pics, I think I'll be alright. I'll post pics when I get them on. Nd rear tire I ended up doing a 275/35/20 so I won't have such a small sidewall for ride quality

I think in terms of appearance the 21 is the ideal size for the proportions of the car. 22's look cartoonish to me. 20's ride really nice and depending on the design can look proportionate but you need a design where the spokes extend all the way to the outer edge of the wheel. If you do something with a lip it'll look too small.
I went from 19's to a set of staggered 20" AMG S63 take offs and switched from Contis to Michelin PS3 and the car rides smoother with the 20's, entirely due to the Michelins.

I can't wait to see those wheels mounted!

I think it's the tires also. My ride seems rough with the factory plus 1 set up. I had 22's on a RT Magnum and it road pretty good. I think 21's are the best size for the S. I wish they made factory AMG double spokes in 21".

Here are my OEM 20's with 20mm spacers rear and 15mm spacers front to push the rims out toward the fender lip as much as possible without rubbing. Everything else is stock suspension and running gear. Michelin PS3's. Ride is perfect even on the "Sport" ride height setting.

I don't expect you'll see Mercedes putting 21" wheels on their sedans. Too much ride quality deterioration. Possible that an AMG wheel for the ML or GL SUV is available as a 21". All MB wheels share the same bolt pattern and hub bore. The only issues in swapping across is widths and offsets.
Here's a nice 21" set for a GL/ML:
Offset is 37mm, so they'll sit 6mm (1/4") further toward the fender lip than stock S Class wheels. 10" might be too much width up front, but cool looking wheels none the less.

Not bad, wish the spokes went to the edge. Finding the right wheel is like finding the right wife. Not easy...
BMW does factory 21's on it's Alpina 7 series.

Great choice in wheels and a beautiful car. I like to see all of the wheel on a drop. Otherwise to me at least it looks like the suspension is broken and the chassis is swallowing up the wheels. Up an inch would probably look perfect to me.
