Double pull for rear doors?

I'm sure I'm doing something silly here, but I thought I'd ask the experts:

When opening the rear doors from inside, the double pull feature is not active, a la the front doors, where I just need to pull the door release twice for a locked door to 1)unlock and (2) open. For the rears, I have to pull the door lock up to unlock, and then open. Am I missing something here?

Another bump. Come on guys...should take no more than 30 sec the next time you go for a drive (or ask one of your rear seat passengers!).

Thanks.

Thanks Dave. Glad to know it's not just me.

Very strange; why in the world would Mercedes not enable this for the rear passengers!

Probably a safety thing for kids with the car in gear. You can always reach behind and pull the lock up. Or just wait until the car is in park at which point all of the doors unlock.

I thought the child locks prevented accidental/unauthorized opening of the doors. The kids themselves can pull the lock up so I wouldn't be trusting this "feature" to be full safeguard.

And pulling up on a plastic door tab seems so uncouth. LOL. Kidding here of course, but it still doesn't make sense for me....

Thanks triniexr. Nothing wrong, I guess this is a "feature". Still odd to me. I wonder if the W222 is the same way?
