2011 S550 Intermittent Starting

Guys I can't seem to figure this one out.

The car randomly wont start after being driven, turned off, and then tried to be turned back on again. The car would not turn on and doesn't even have a cranking sound. I left the car for 20 minutes and came back and it started again. It seems something is overheating because as soon as I wait 15-20 minutes the car starts just fine. I was able to replicate it twice today within one hour.

First time was driving the car for 30 minutes stopped and went into Fedex for 2 minutes, and the non start symptoms occured. Waited 15 minutes and everything went back to nornal .

Drove the car back too my house which is 10 minutes away turned off and had to wait 20 minutes for the car to engage again like normal.

***Now the car is shutting off while driving, have to wait 20-30 minutes to start back up.

No errors or indications come up and MB can't replicate it. Is this a symptom of CPS failure even if there is no cranking sound? Any help is much appreciated!

If you hear a 'click' when pushing the button or turning the key; its most likely the starter motor.

If no click ,it could be the starter relay or a fault in the wires to the startermotor.

Or indeed in the startermotor itself .

The symptoms don't exactly match but are similar to having a bad crankshaft positon sensor or camshaft position sensor. Usually it just cranks and doesn't start after turning it off but in your case the fact that it doesn't crank at all I'm not sure. I had a bad camshaft position sensor and my check engine light would come on and off intermitently and I had the no start situation

The other day the car turned off on me while I was driving! Same issue as before, had to wait 15-20 minutes car cooled down and started right back up. The car was a little jerky on the throttle but all was normal after driving for a few minutes. No errors have come up yet?

It's at the dealership now but of course they can't replicate it and it's not throwing any codes.

The car turned off on me twice while I was driving last week. Had to wait 30 minutes for it to start and ran like normal. When I tried to start it, it was just dead no crank or anything. Any thoughts??

...and maybe you have a close to dead battery on top of it

I'm starting to also wonder if your alternator or battery might have been the problem. Did it ever say anything about a low battery?

you most likely have a dying battery and maybe a dying cps

have the battery load tested and terminals checked for good connectivity. it takes very little wiggle for the terminals to not make good contact when battery is called upon hard

more expensive propositions are an overheating ecu or driving authorization module
