Wheel Opinion
I apparently bent one of my front S63 wheels. Not visible but a definite hop that you feel north of 70 mph. For what I'll spend replacing that single wheel I can almost buy a whole set of aftermarket. I've narrowed down to the STR607 concave 5 spoke, which has a sort of Niche/Stance look to it but for around $900 shipped.
I'm torn between the classic, clean look of the silver finish, and the more sinister matte grey (on my Black S550). I'm guessing the grey are easier to keep looking clean.
Have a look and let me know. (I could only find pics of Mustangs in black with both colors)

That's a tough, tough decision. Do they have a "machined" finish? I love the silver, but love how some AMG wheels have a machine finish.
Is it me, or does this wheel have the outer spoke machined, and inner portions silver?
Out of your choices, I'm kinda leaning towards silver, but wish is was machined.
And you'd be going 20" I assume.

Yeah. 20's. I'd say the face is machined and clear-coated and the barrel is silver paint/clear-coat. I'm leaning towards the grey just because it's something different and modern but not a pure black, which I dislike.
The machined look is nice (my current rims are machined) but I think it's starting to look dated.

Depends on the weather
I love my wheels and these are the gunmetal machined finish and you can rarely tell when they are dirty, but with my akebono breaks I dont get much dust anyway. Sometimes I see cars with the nice silver finish and and when they are clean on a sunny day, I wish I had those. Silver looks good on black, but the machined/gunmetal is a little different and looks good too. Tough choice.

Picking the right wheel, is like picking the right wife. It can take years
Also, TSW has a line called "Mandrus", and have vehicle specific wheels for the S550.
See here:

And here is the mini site on the S class specific wheels:

I think since you've had silver wheels it makes sense to go gunmetal, or silver/machined w/gunmetal.
Also, the TSW are affordable.

On the grey, you take in the totality of the car all at once. There's more visual balance. On the silver, the wheels are the star. In grey the car's the star.
I'm counting this as two votes for grey...

I think I finally figured it out. On the bright silver wheels, your eye is drawn to the wheels and the car is almost background.

I completely agree. After looking at my car it's almost as if the wheel and car are "one" so to speak...if that makes sense. Kind of like a woman wearing a black dress with bright red heels...your eye is drawn to the heels immediately, but with black heels you notice the whole picture first.
I vote grey!

Great comments. Now, that Savani may look like it's a 21" if what you say is true witht he lugs being covered... I love that wheel, and of course it's double.
Also, in my bookmarks, I had this one saved. Niche Apex, about same price as STR's. I forget the other finishes:
Edit, another finish:
$749 set of 4, ok for price:

Those Niche Apex are available from Need4Speed for under a grand. Good looking wheel, Really there are too many choices out there. A 221 with the AMG kit looks good on almost anything. This concave split five is under $1500 for the set from Need4Speed

How did you bend it? I suggest that you get the 20in AMG rims.

If I wanted a set of AMG rims I'd just replace the one of my existing AMG rims, that's bent.

Rims with covered lugs usually look much better....more classy I think.
The Savani's look nice.
I will be looking for a set of matte grey/gunmetal wheels to replace my 19" AMG wheels soon.

Well in the end I chickened out and bought a refurb front S63 wheel to replace the bent one. Not as sexy (or as expensive) as new rims but it's definitely nice to have that super smooth ride back. I sent the bent rim out to Turbax for truing and then I guess I'll have a spare.
