Another 1.5 weeks (now who knows how long) S550.....

I've been here for a couple of weeks, still don't have a Benz lol. Thanks to everyone for the help so far. The time is almost here. Hopefully my car will be shipped next week. I ponied up for an enclosed transport. I wanted an AWD, so I gave up on the S63 or S600.

It is a CPO'ed Lunar Blue 4Matic with pano roof, rear entertainment, rear seat pkg, night view, B&O audio, splitview, driver assistance pkg, and heated steering wheel. I overpaid but have rarely come across one with all the toys. For me, it's all about the toys!

CANT' WAIT!! I've only driven BMW 7ers (4 of them, 2 V12s), I hope I'll like the Benz. Based on what I've read so far, I believe I'll like it just fine.
Below is a dealer photo.

Congrats bud. Looks great. Can't wait for more photos of all those options. That's very rare to find all of that stuff.

Ugh. That B&O audio system is supposed to be KILLER. I wish I knew it existed before I bought mine. Rear seat package is pretty rare as well. Somebody custom ordered that bad boy and picked all the right boxes for you. It's an S Class...if you're not overpaying you're just not trying hard enough.

When you get it, could you please press the "Airmatic Sport" button. It's sitting up too high in that pic and it's bugging me. Also a set of 20's at your earliest convenience would be appreciated

After driving 2 V12 TT Bimmers, I have a feeling that you'll be trading up to the 65, 63, or 600 in no time at all. This will be a short relationship.

Thanks guys. This has been a great forum and a big help. I bought the remote start/DroneMobile modules from Jason and I don't even have my car yet. It's just crazy... I'll take photos and document the install.

I figured someone would buy this beast if I decided that I needed the S63, 65, or 600. That was a tough compromise. I originally wanted a S63 or 600 with ABC, but I liked the 4Matic versatility more.

On the B&Os--I just wish that it had the motorized "acoustic lenses" like the Audi or Aston Martin! I'm an audio snob--I run electrostatic speakers and tube amps at home, so I'll definitely report on the performance of the B&O system. LOL on the wheels and ride height. I have always liked my old E38 750iL's "rake". The S550 always looked like it sat too high, especially in the front. Speaking of 20" wheels, these are growing on me:

LMAO.

Snovvman.....looks like that'll ne a very nice upgrade over the Yugo GV !!!
I have a 4matic.....but I wish it was a RWD only model (I'm not in the snowbelt so AWD is not of any real use for me).

I've been considering 20" wheels my self but I still have to get used to the ideal of 35mm profile tires. (Found one of my AMG 19" wheels cracked and I had already bought another to replace a curb rashed wheel....that I had to put back on the car to replace the cracked wheel). Instead of spending another $500 on one AMG wheel I might as well buy a set of new 20" wheels for a little bit more money.

2013. I was looking for a 12 or 13 4Matic with as many toys as possible, with Night View as a requirement. I didn't need a car and wasn't intending to buy anything under a specific timeline. Serendipitously, I came upon this and had to buy it.

One question: I would like to remove the front license plate holder. It it mounted by screws/bolts drilled into the bumper? In other words, will removing the holder leave holes in the bumper?

Yes, MANY HOLES! A ton. It's swiss cheese under there. Best leave it, or get a plate like I did:

That last photo.

Congrats on the car. I also think some 20s will look good. I recommend AMGs.

You could plug the holes from bumperplugs.com

Or have bodyshop fill them ($100-150)

I'd be curious how well bumperplugsw would work with that many holes. But with a body shop, paint alone would be over $100. It's shame they do this with all those holes.

The original owner of my car did not put a front plat on it, so I have no holes. I keep my license plate in my lower right front window. I just could not put holes in the front of that car

Good looking car, I am jealous of the REAR seat and Rear entertainment system. Hmm, once I finish retrofiting the fridge, I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit the rear seat package and the rear entertainment system, Hmm?

I was thinking the same thing.. I may try to do the split view and rear entertainment. There is a video on YouTube the guy just programs the split view feature and swaps the screen and done..

It's not the easy. Is has to be enabled by your dealer with their tool. If you are in a state where it's illegal, that isn't going to be harder than normal.

Is it legal in CA? My buddy has an actual Chrysler MB star touch screen system would he be able to do it? Otherwise I guess I'd have to have my buddy who is a mechanic at a MB dealer do it.. do the MB remote controls and headphones work on all cars or just split view rear ent cars?

You have to install a module to get the remote to work, for cars without split-view. I may be able to get it for you, I need to check again.

Mine had the split-view option and you can control most of the car from that remote. It's very cool.

I'd appreciate it if you could check. Do the headphones work automatically if I buy a pair? Thanks!

I just watched that video again on the Split view swap and it looks like Midcity Engineering did it.

Yep, I'm a dealer for Midcity. I will check with my guy Monday who did it, he's a master MacGyver.
