It can be done. Keys locked in car
Wife closed trunk in 2012 S550. Problem is she hit the lock button by mistake and then hit the close trunk button. Lucky I had mechanical key in my billfold.

lol... this should not happen.
i think one of your rear keyless go antennas is gone so the car did not sense the key in the trunk
those antennas- they do fail and can be troubleshot via das

The keys were in the Car not in the trunk. The Lock button right next to the trunk closing button locked all the doors and then she shut the trunk and all was locked up tight.

Yes I have Mbrace but just got it and haven't checked out what it will do.. I will do that soon. I still didn't think it should have locked the doors with the keys inside..

I inadvertently hit both the trunk close and lock buttons while closing the trunk and my key was inside the car and I got an alarm and a reminder to remove my key - seems there was an interesting malfunction

Correct, it works the same way as my trunk video. You can't lock the keys in the car, if they are IN IT. Something is wrong.

May be there was a second key fob in her purse or pocket and it locked that way . There is no way you can close and lock the car with a keyfob is in the car .
I recently discovered something, I left one of the fobs inside the car and I was able to lock the car with other keyfob was in my pocket .

I tested it , you can lock it from outside providing that one of the fobs is in your hands, pocket, bag whatever .If two fob is inside or only one fob is nearby you can not lock the car .

For emergency would it work to take the battery out of a remote and hide it in the car. Then you could enter the car with your mechanical key and insert the smartkey in the ignition and still enter the car and start it .
