My first Mercedes, my first post.. need advice
Hello all! this is my first post and my first Mercedes. I bought 2012 S550 CPO with 23000 mile, the warranty with CPO is through Dec 2016. I drive 12k miles a year, i was quoted for 2 year MB factory extended warranty $3700 from the person everybody recommend here in the forums. my dealer of course quoted me $4900.
Is the warranty worth it? that 2 year extended warranty will cover my car between 50k and 75k miles. anything expected to break at those miles.
Thank you

I had a great experience with AutoPom a sponsor here.. Mike owns it and was very honest and straight forward. Plus you make no interest payments so you dont have to pay all at once.

Welcome to the forum! Excellent choice of model year, mileage and CPO warranty BTW. As you're probably aware the new CPO warranty has no mileage cap so really the question is the years.
I believe your car is still actually under the original factory warranty. Your year of included CPO won't start until you hit either the 4 year (based on the car's original in-service date) or 48k mile mark, so you're probably looking at being covered into 2017 without spending any more money.
Personally, having owned CPO and non CPO S Class I recommend CPO and as much of it as they're willing to sell you. I've yet to lose money on a CPO warranty. Given that the car has the twin turbo, plus all the regular stuff that breaks, I'd use Jason's contact and get the extra 24 months.

I believe there's a 15% surcharge to add after the initial purchase period (while within the existing CPO coverage). It depends to an extent on how long you plan to keep the car, and how long the car is financed. If you'll unload it after a couple of years, or if you paid cash, or both, it might make sense to wait. I usually fold it into the 1.9% APR financing on CPO cars thru MBFS so it's over with when I drive off the lot. For me at least the purchase price of an S Class equals the negotiated price of the car plus the full extended CPO.

As long as the car is a CPO when you buy it, you can add one or two years at any point during the first 12 months. As much money as it sounds like. the real test is whether it pays for itself. I promise you I wouldn't have laid down another $4500 for extended CPO on my current car if it hadn't paid for itself more than twice over on my previous car.

There is a small window of time to get that additional 15% off the warranty purchase price soon after the car is purchased but if you're not concerned with that discount then you can purchase the warranty at anytime prior to the CPO end date. As Mike stated the cpo is only 12 months and starts once the original warranty expires.
Otherwise if it's not a cpo car then u can purchase a ELW at anytime prior to the original warranty ending.

Unfortunately, I don't see "new thread" anywhere. I see "new posts" but then you see all the submitted posts. It doesn't have a space to write a new one. The only time I am able
to communicate here now is by using "quick reply" to this post.

Warranty at what price?
I would not be so sure to get the warranty. It is only 2 yrs or 25K miles and it will only cover parts needed. I would suggest you get pre-paid service with the dealer that should only be 1G per year and that should keep the car topped up. Problems with S class probably won't show up until over 75,000 miles or after.
