Looking for 2012 or 2013 S550, need advise please.

here are my absolute minimum requirements

- 2013-2012 S550
- white outside, standard or designio white
- black inside or porcelain white with designio (absolutely no camel, or gray)
- panoramic
- sport package or sport +1
- premium 2
- rear seat package (either with designio package or standalone)
- complete drivers assistance package with distronic, lane asist, etc
- heated wood steering wheel,
- rear side windows and back shades

and nice to have but not absolutely necessary
- 4Matic
- premium leather
- night vision
- black headliner
- split view
- Bang & Olufsen
- no preference on the wood type

What do you think?
maybe you know where to find one?
Is there any difference between 2012 and 2013?

2012 S550
I will tell you about my story on looking for pretty much the same car.
I was looking for a 2010-2013 S550 with the same minimum requirements as you, except different colors and the sport package was not 100% required. I drove about 20 different cars and could not find one that completely matched every box on my list so I had to compromise a little. The main deal breaker for me was the driving assistance package. If it did not have that it was a no go. About 3 months of looking allowed me to come across a 2012 S550 with black on black. After driving the 2010 and 2011 and then driving the 2012, there was no way I was going to buy a 2010 or 2011. The 2012 is when they started using the Twin Turbo which I saw as a huge upgrade from the previous years. However I found a 2012 Black on Black S550 with drivers assistance package, rear seat entertainment system, Premium 2, 4Matic, Pano Roof, split view and rear sunshades. I had to give up the night vision, Bang & Olufsen and the rear seat package(it has the TV'S but not the eletric/heated/AC seats). I will say I found one with all the options you listed but was a 2011 and was silver in color, but after driving the 2012 I did not want the 2011. I do not believe there is really any difference in the 2013 model from the 2012.

FYI the Bang and Olufsen is a very rare system, which I would have loved to have but did not even find one in my area with that, and I am in a big Mercedes area here in Atlanta.

Anyway, good luck I would definitely recommend a 2012 or 2013 S550, just make sure to get one with low miles and get an extended warranty. I picked mine up with low miles and got an exclusion policy extended warranty which lasts until 101,000 Miles or 2019 and all-in-all cost me around $50K.

If you want absolutely everything that Benz has to offer, then perhaps you should consider bucking up a bit for a 2011 S600. That car comes with the B&O sound system as standard, and more equipment than you've requested, including leather wrapped everything, every option that Benz offers in an S-class, and an engine that will blow the doors off the S550....and is likely not any more money than a 2013 S550 with the options you've requested. Find a low mileage one owner example with full service records.

But the S600, it doesn't have that oh so necessary sport package. I guess you could add it though.

Are you talking about the AMG body kit? If so, you're correct. But you could go through Gary and purchase the kit for cheap and have your local body shop paint and install it. The S600 is giant leaps ahead of the S550 when it comes to equipment and engine.

2013 S550 4matic (AMG sport package), 2016 Corvette Stingray.
2012-13 will have most of what u listed as standard equipment, meaning you will more than likely have heated steering and chances are u will have lane departure, etc etc. night view assist that's a crapshoot and a great option to have if u live in the boonies like me with these darn deers , however the technology isn't there yet on the 221 so pass. The split view is a nice addition but ur driving so what do u care about playing movies for your passenger. Nice addy but def not a must and hard to find anyways. Color combo is an easy find, now mileage and quality of vehicle u find is more important. Good luck with your search.

Why? The light colored interiors, while they look nice when new, are almost impossible to keep looking clean. Even the dye from blue jeans or dark dress slacks will eventually start darkening the seats. Unless you live in Florida, are a member of a country club, are retired in your 70's or 80's, and think that white pants and white patent leather shoes are the style of choice, I'd recommend staying away from porcelain and go with a charcoal or black interior.

black and gray interiors are boring and brown is ugly plus i'm a big Miami Vice fan.

In my opinion you should look at Offleaseonly and wait until one that meets your needs arrives. Their prices are phenomenal. My sister just bought a 2015 Volvo S60 t5 premier w/10kmiles for 22k

My dark brown (Chestnut) interior looks very good and is a rare color. The downer is that it took 3 months to get a seat belt replaced

I think the Brown interior with the blue exterior is the best combo.

Yeah, the light interiors are gorgeous and so much more visually interesting than the vast sea of blackness in the Charcoal interior. My last two S Class (220) were Java (a medium two tone mocha and light tan) and Stone (a very, very light tan, almost off-white) The seats I could take care of but cleaning them eventually wears the color coat off the leather. I could keep them fresh with using a leather dye, which I did, but it's a hassle.

Here's the 04 S430 in Stone:

But the rest of the upholstery, especially the weather stripping around the door openings was impossible to clean without making it worse. If it got wet, it looked dingy when dry. I ended up ordering and installing new ones from the dealer. Same with the kick panels. I replaced floor mats every six months or so to keep them fresh.

On the 221, I chose black by default. I hated the butterscotchy two tone of the cashmere/savannah brown. The ash (grey) was way too light and would be a struggle to keep clean. The almost new CPO cars I saw in Ash all showed wear and discolorations.

The black interior has been great. I vacuum it and that's it. Shows no wear at all. Still the original matts.

Now the Porcelain is a different story. Light up on the seats, black down where most of the wear shows. I'd be willing to put in the extra work for Porcelain because I agree it's the best looking interior for the 221.

Oh, and I also had to scavenge EBay piece by piece for the AMG body kit on the S430. Not a terribly expensive process and the mounting hardware was identical for everything.

Where do you live, Andrew? I recently bought a lease return '13 with 17k miles. It was pretty much loaded ,but I had to forego the rear seat package. I found that to be quite a rare option.

no its Florida.
yes, I know its high but considering the options and over 121K MSRP.....

i saw very similar one go for 65K with 20,000 miles 2013, and no negotiation

dealers know that white with white is very rare and in high demand

Buy it. You are not going to find another like it. Simple. The car was $121k new, now for half price and is still basically brand new. That car will be gone in a week if you don't. Trust me.
