I was looking online and it looks like people have dashes repaired all the time from cracks etc and they look brand new. It looks like it just need to be stretched and adhered back to the dash.

What the hell has happened to the market for low mileage S600's. 4-5 months ago, 31k mile cars couldn't be purchased for less than $38k. Now they can be had in the mid 20's and are cheaper than S550's? WTF???

Haha, no idea but I am glad..saves some money in my pocket! Well, at the dealers they are still in the high 30's and low 40's but private sales seem to be better.

This one is an 07 (prefer 08 interior) but if I can get it for around 23,5-24k then fixing the small leather on the dash is a non-issue and I can go with out the 08 interior, especially since this has a transferable warranty until 8/2017 and I can do the tune with out coming out of pocket for anything end even do the facelift kit if I decide to go that route with it.

This is a super tough decision!! I am so torn between all of these cars...I still like the designo interior the most as it is very visually appealing to me, even with the miles, I have the repair/maint fund if anything happend....the 08, low miles and the interior is nice, the 07..low price, most likely gently driven since it was his wifes 2nd car, and low miles with warranty until 8/17.

Decisions, decisions. I have been asking my wife over and over and showing her pictures and she just keeps saying they all look just like the car I have now..but she did notice the interior of the designo and likes it.

I have to decide basically by tomorrow mid morning.

So, this is something to note when buying s600's that have a "leather dash".

And honestly, I'm not a fan of the designo on the w221. I don't like the ribbed leather seats. Reminds me of the 70's s classes that all came that way. Now this I love. I guess this is considered exclusive from the pricing on things using quilted these days.

Does anyone know if I buy a car from another state since it's a private sale, can I go to a tag and title location or dmv to get temp tags/temp registration to drive it home? I assume I can as long as I have the title, bill of sale, insurance info, etc. A lot of things I found online say I'll be charged tax on the price of the bill of sale for my state to get temp tags so I assume I won't have to pay tax again when I register it here will I? That doesnt make sense to me and that would be around $1500.00 2 times.

You only pay tax once and it's based on where you live. Private party sales usually mean less sales tax than dealer sales, which is another bonus.

I'm in IL and purchased my car from a dealer in CA. That car came with a CA plate on it...and I was told to keep the CA plate on the car until my title and license plate transfer was completed in my state. I guess you'll just have to check with the state where you purchase the car from to see if the plate on the car goes with that car and can be left on until you get it titled in your state. I really don't think that you'd have to have the car titled and tagged in the state you're buying it...just to drive it home. You'll have the title and bill of sale, which is usually good with police departments around the country until you get the car home and take care of paying the tax & title fees.

Correct, I don't have to have it title in the state I just need that for proof that it is mine, etc. I did some more research and I can get temp paper tag until i get home to title and register in my name and get my hard plates.

Now to pick a car.

Thanks

It will already be insured after I buy it. I'm going to just add it on to my current policy from my phone or call and do it.

Finally settled on a car! I did the black/black S600 with the 2 year warranty! I flew in today and I go pick it up first thing tomorrow morning! What a heck of a price! I already ordered my tail lights from Gary@suvneer when I landed and some other misc I found during the flight and I'll most likely order the facelift kit when I return from Cozumel!

Reset your MPG computer....and let me know what kind of mileage you average on your trip. I'm interested to see how it does on a long road trip.
