Thought maybe so, so I pushed it down that last bit and the latch won't hold it. Pops right back.(I'm at a mall and the car is on display. Otherwise I wouldn't touch it.) Like I said, might be able to be adjusted out. Shouldn't need to be.
I have to say, when I was ready for new cars, I was very disappointed that Jaguar had they're major redesign for the XJ.......even so, this must be some sort of fluke
Yeah, it's a QC problem when $75000 coupes are rolling off the line requiring the hood to be finessed to get it to close square. On that car, it was latched in the center at the cowl, and the left side was drawn down tight, but the right latch couldn't hold it. You could feel it catch and then release. Too much tension on that side. Didn't get a pic but the gap on the passenger door was whacked too.
Just 3 months from purchase it had been in the shop so much they gave me all my money back under Washington State Lemon Law. Didn't even have to ask, they just offered it.
For those who own MB or BMW and are disappointed about the level of depreciation, you can feel some sort of comfort in knowing that Jaguar depreciates much faster and are even less reliable with higher maintenance costs. Even Ford's intervention couldn't save Jaguar from itself.
Regardless, I'd still take an early 1960's E-type coupe or vert. Those cars are pure p#ssy.

Run, don't walk, away from Jaguar.
I have to say it's gorgeous car though. Looks like an exotic and probably the only thing for it's price like it. You hated it that much?
Also, has anyone seen the current Jaguar commercials? They all have this snippet that says Jaguar customers were most satisfied by JD Power. What a joke.

Satisfied how? Satisfied that their electrical system didn't start on fire? Satisfied by the nice looking but very snug fitting interior? Satisfied that it'll take a minimum of 2 years to depreciate 50%? Satisfied because this JD Power guy has a big shlong? I think you need to be more clear on what defines "most satisfied".
Ahh.....ranked highest in "dealer service" among luxury service. I guess Jaguar has taught their service advisors to be extra nice since they will be seeing their customers quite often.
JD Powers is a marketing firm, and their revenue is derived entirely from the same companies that pay them for the results of their research. It's kind of like Arthur Andersen doing independent audits of Enron, who in turn paid Anderson millions in fees. They're not going to give anyone bad news.
Consumer Reports on the other hand is a legitimate aggregator of consumer opinion and funded independently by member dues. No advertising accepted. Short version, you can pretty much wipe your butt with a JD Power "award". Have you ever heard who finished last in a JD Power survey?
Man I am happy I didn't buy a Jag. I wanted an XJ badly until I test drove a few and decided it wasn't for me. In addition several of my friends were trying to talk me out of it. Very happy that I went with a Mercedes.

I love the XJ. Striking design in and out, nice materials inside, great Meridian sound system. Then I drove one. Holy crap does the ride SUCK. I'm expecting a British (ok, Chinese but you get the point) take on the S Class. Not close. The suspension is so stiff the thing drives like a truck. I get having a firm ride in the XK or the F..they're sports coupes...but not that massive tub,
Yep, the suspension has a very skiddish feel to it. Any slight ripples in the road while taking a corner, the thing feels liked driving on an accordion.
Also similiar to the (no longer in production) late model Q45. A great car, but suspension can have that skiddish feeling to it. The reason why? It didn't have air suspension.
