retrofit rear reclining rear seats in an s550
i have the opportunity to get some rear reclining seats from a 2007 s600, and the track system. Does anyone know or have done the install if it is possible to put the rear reclining seats from an s600 into a s550? Both are a 2007 model.

I bet Chris The Swede would know. Try PM'ing him. It's really a wiring harness question...did MB use a single common cabin harness config for all the 221's, in which case it would require making the connections at the seat, plus adding the control module to the rear doors. If the rear seat package cars got their own harness you'd be looking at an interior gut job to replace it, probably not worth it.

In addition to the seats and door panels, you'd also need the center armrest with all of the massage features. The door panels won't match the front as they are full leather, so you'd need to get the front door panels too...unless you get the panels from a donor S550 that has the rear seat package. And it will likely have a different kind of leather than your existing seats as the 600 leather is more plush and softer than the S550. So you'd also need to replace the front seats to have a match. And as Mike mentioned, the hookups and activating the seats could be a problem. There are likely modules that you'd need to add and the system would have to be programmed to the car.
Honestly not worth the time and effort. You'd do better for yourself by selling your car and picking up an '07 or '08 S600. By the time you'd be all done with your project, you'd likely spend less in the upgrade to the 600 and have a car with every piece of equipment and luxury known to man in 2007....not to mention a V12 twin turbo motor.

Additionally, the reclining seats from the S600 come with power headrests for the back. That means more programming and likely a new module for the front center console button to lower them. The headrests go up automatically when somebody buckles up in the back.

thanks guys for all the info. to add to it, i damn near got the entire interior, except the the front seats, but i can order the matching leather. I have all four door panels, the rear center armrest controls and that module. And a friend of mine owns a junkyard and i got all this stuff pristine for less than $2000 from a car that just came in.

so will I be able to to just grab the rails/brackets the seats sit on or will I need the rear seats as well. Also for the door panels since the donar car has tan interior can I just grab the rear seat adjustment buttons and add them onto my current door panels. I will also be grabbing the harness

lots of money and never got them to work I expect....
would have needed lots of wiring looms too, and then the other door trim probably had the blinds on the rear doors, so then needs both door looms and the side blinds...
bearing in mind, the seats are designed to go with the long wheelbase chassis? aren't the door trims 6" too long
