Nothing like a new car built to order, at least until the novelty wears off. So far, no regrets.

Did you park it in front of your sweatshop again?

Of course smarter doesn't mean you'll do better than anyone else, it just means you'll probaby have to work less hard at it, and therefore deserve much less personal credit for it.

I hope the guy took good care of it. BMW's with manuals are hard to find in a pre-2000 7 series or even 1980's 6 series. The one time I remember test driving an E38, the steering felt heavy. It was a big car like the W140 S-Class, but Mercedes made the S feel more nimble on the road. Yeah, it's not the same once you've owned a modern S-Class or even a 7-series. All the modern conveniences are hard to give up now.
They never put a manual in the E38 (1995-2001 7 series), at least not in the states. Some guys do conversions.
And if the steering felt heavy, the servotronic was likely broken, defaulting the steering to heavy.
I had a W140, E38 and now the W221. For my money the E38 was the fastest and most nimble "feeling" of the lot. Drove faster more easily, and got there more quickly. Only comparable Benz experience I had was a 2004 E500; the E38 drove E-class size to me.
The car just broke all the damn time.

Your plugs are worn, but fine. The oily looking residue is no biggy, it's not indicative of a valve seal leak or anything else.
Don't use that stupid coin gapped again. Feeler gauges to do it properly.
And never, ever put a spark plug in your engine that you've dropped.

For the most part the C is a nice change in pace after three S Class and a blast to drive. If I'll miss anything it's the quietness of the S on the highway, and how effortlessly it moves around. The T4 in the C is working most of the time. It sounds cool when it's working, very rev-happy, but that's my one major gripe vs the S. And no infrared tint. The sun was warming my face and I was like "WTF is wrong with the sun today!?".
The runflat tires on the C are too noisy and too stiff. I ordered a set of non run flats and a fill kit, and it's going in next week to have all of the audio gear I pulled out of the S installed, and the windows tinted. I do have to give credit to the seats in the C. With all of my back bull**** that was a major concern, especially after the thrones in the S, but I prefer the C seats. No massage though.
Short version, an S Class is a difficult car to step down from, which is why I kept buying them. But the new C definitely puts a smile on my face. Time will tell.

Congrats Mike , definitely a lovely car ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Recently, some of us talking about BMW 7 Series, I just remember that the car we are talking about also featured Bond Car but for some reason BMW and namely that 7 Series never been credited by anyone as a Bond car![word](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/werd.gif)
Well, I am honestly not giving a rat or rap even crap anything about Bond movies save the very 4 ones Sean Connery in it .
Mr Bond, Irish guy I forgot his name in that movie, controlled the BMW via a device and that was a sci fi giving the movie's release date but today I have seen a BMW 7 Series remote , I am sold on , it sticks in my ........But honestly, BMW 7 Series remote key fob can also control many things I think even entering / exiting parking lots
Back on course, those spark plugs are shot . I have read good comments about iridium spark plugs but these must be more expensive

Every single time I've strayed away from OEM plugs in any car, it has run like sh*t and I end up buying the mfr specified ones. These, and almost all cars are engineered to run on a very specific plug, and it's not worth spending the money to get something that you think might last longer due to the materials used.

I wonder how much you would have received in trade on a base 2007 model in decent condition with 80k miles? My guess would be around $15k.

The infrared coating wears off over time, depending on exposure to sunlight. If the car sits out all day, such as in a junk yard or is not garaged, it begins to lose its effectiveness and the coating fades. If you have a full coat on a new car, the windows will look like a light blue all the time in all types of light. If you're windows don't have the obvious blue hue all the time, then your coating is wearing or is worn off. I learned this at a DENSA meeting from a guy who used to have a 420 SEL 'Cedes.

I've seen 2004-2005 S-classes that have been snow belt cars begin to to rust on the wheel arches, rocker panels, trunk lids, and near the gas cap. It's just a matter of time until it affects your car.

Did you purchase some new pedals, fridge, and the face-lifted steering wheel yet for the used 222 that you're gonna buy in 10 years? I wonder if rubber mallets will change in design by then?

I like the stock pedals. Not those boy racer ones you've got. My driver for speaker module has blown bass. Does anyone have a spare? I don't have much money as I'm from the clothe.

After you get your body work estimate, run it over to the Benz dealer for the scan.
