I live an honest life. What have I done which is illegal? Or let me guess, I'm not worthy to own a Mercedes because I didn't take a loan on it? I appreciate that you took it upon yourself to let me know where the standard of ownership lies.

The standard of Mercedes Benz ownership begins and ends in being able to afford to maintain it and NEVER have to live pay check to pay check in doing so.

I think Thomas is still in the early stages of frustration with you and it may be getting the best of him. I certainly don't blame him as you've made a lot of stupid decisions when it comes to your wreck. Or as least stupid as far as most rational people who have even the slightest understanding of cars are concerned.

As for me, I've finally come to the conclusion that you can't fix stupid as evidenced by your ongoing actions. Now I'd just like to see you fix the car right, make it safe, and just let this ridiculous thread die. But I certainly see Mike's point in that this thread is the prize, not your car.

I am currently living paycheck to paycheck. Rent, bills are paid. 403b is being contributed at 8% of income while being in the top 10% of income earners in the country. My Wife and I are also putting away savings for our first house. We eat very well, go out to fancy places. Since I paid cash for the 'Cedes, I'm currently paycheck to paycheck. Though I am happy. I've got a great life, a great Wife, and the 'Cedes I've wanted since December. I'll have money to save once the car is repaired.

I give up. This kids logic makes no sense what's so ever. But, since he is a kid what should I expect.

The top 10% of income earners in the Country is $125,000 to $140,001 PER YEAR. Depending on the part of the country you live in you could live very well not pay check to pay check.To blow your savings on an 8 year old broken car, buy all sorts of accessories for it instead of first properly repairing it is juvenile thinking.

In addition you stated you and your wife are saving for your first house. Life lesson number 1. Buy the house first which is an APPRECIATING asset. You instead chose to buy a DEPRECIATING ASSET and a broken down one at that.

Allow me to share with you several of the top life lessons that a responsible parent shares with his child;
1. save 10% of your gross income, minimum
2.House first.
3.Luxury car, IF you can afford it next.
4.Live within your means kid.

If you want this thread to be all sunshine and rainbows and for people to tell you how you made a shrewd purchase you are sadly mistaken. This entire situation is a joke. No one is laughing with you, we are laughing at you. You may believe that the joke will be on is when you get your "Cedes" on the road but, you will never recoup that money. Frankly, you should have been banned when you started referring to the car as a Cedes. I'm disgusted.

Get your priorities in order and, for the love of God don't procreate until you have grown up.

Opinion which is deeply rooted in fact. What you regard as poison is really an attempt to help you. You can be immune to my "poison". Your wallet however will not be immune to being emptied out in to this black hole which has already been totaled once by an insurance company. If you were a professional, or even semi professional car builder, mechanic etc...I would say great go for it. But FACT is that you aren't. While I do have disdain for your stupidity, I do pity you as well because you just can't fix stupid, and you have made many stupid decisions and have continued to rationalize them as the correct ones.

All you are doing in this thread is trying to convince yourself that you are doing the right thing. No one else here agrees in the direction you are going in and have given you pages of really good advise and you **** on everyone else hell bent to do it your way.


When it completely falls apart you will just be another guy that bought a Mercedes he couldn't afford living pay check to pay check trying to prove something to everyone else. Only to realize when it was too late, too costly and in the end couldn't hack it. You will disappear from this forum like the thousands that came before you that did the same thing. OR, you are so narcissistic that when you do fail you will still hang around. I discovered awhile back that Benz55 doesn't want advice in the thread. The thread is being presented as entertainment. It's not about a guy looking for help restoring an S Class. It's a comedy show about a guy getting to drive an S Class in the least conventional way possible. In terms of "the story", cost is not relevant, nor is following the most reasonable or prudent path. It's all about the show.

Like seeing a play, or a comedy act, those of us in the audience are encouraged to laugh and applaud, but anything else is just heckling and a disruption.

See it in that light and suddenly the retarded FUBAR this project is becomes very funny and entertaining, and also uncomfortable and horrifying.
