OK, I replaced the Michelins with Continental Contact DSW 06 which is xl rated. Been about 4k miles now. What a difference. rides better, and fixed tire edges wear. I had the alignment rechecked after the new tires were installed, it was to spec but the front right was close to max so I had it reset to closer to mean.
After all, it was not the alignment which I had checked several times. Michelins are not the best tire for this heavy car. And I drive it like my other cars. No need to drive like an old ....
