One major issue with this stat. This is when the NEW S-CLASS CAME OUT. Obviously you will have a big rise in purchases when you go from a model that has been out since 2007 to a brand new one, vs. lexus' refresh in 2013.

The whole point of the luxury cars is to be isolated from the outside world. Why do I want steering feel in a 5000lb boat? Its not like its a sports car or has any sporting pretensions. I want a smooth, quiet, and isolated ride, just like most other buyers. P.s., if you want steering feel, go get in an air cooled 911 without power steering. Thats steering feel. The s-class...please.

Really, The S550 went to electric steering in 2010, and wiped out most of the steering feel.

Also, despite my feeding the anti-Lexus LS opinion, Lexus sells plenty of cars overall, and if you don't mind a mechanically reliable, somewhat dull, reasonably nice luxury Toyota, with all the good and bad that goes with that, then enjoy that.

I do understand the attraction and it drifts into areas of personal taste.

I don't understand getting angry about it, or personal attacks and posturing. it's an Internet forum about aging S-class Mercedes, which now starts at $8,000. Owning this car or a similar Lexus LS does not mean anything more than you own a used luxury car.

I've had 4 Lexus LS models in the past. My most recent was an '08 LS460. I currently have an '07 S600 with every feature available in any luxury car at the time, including ABC. The Lexus was quieter than my S600. It kept out wind and road noise better than my 600, which is very heavily insulated. My 600 likely handles better than an S550 without ABC, but it is still a huge car and handles like one. My 600 handling probably isn't much better than my last Lexus other than its ability to stay flat in the turns without much body roll due to the ABC suspension. Neither my 600 or LS460 had much steering feel. Both cars feel very similar behind the wheel, except in the power department where no luxury Lexus model can compare to the power and especially torque in the 600. The LS460 and S550 (pre 2012) have very similar power and performance numbers.

 

Learn how to speak to people as an adult without insults and you will not have anyone breathing down your throat! Your insults were uncalled for and you got called out! Learn how to speak like a gentleman and keep your insults to yourself. I am from N.Y.C. born and raised, not as you referred. You have no clue what you are speaking about. Learn to respect others opinions without the insults and this is not the first time. You have a pattern of disrespecting members on here. You got what you deserved! Keep trying me...

you may be from NYC, but your views on the current landscape of the luxury car marketplace seem to be based on Monroe, NY. hardly a meca for luxury vehicles.

Will Lexus just abandon the LS? The "spindle" grill is not attractive.
They are clearly struggling in this class.
