2008 S350 Blower Assistance

Hey Guys,
So I have an S350 and I need the diagrams and the procedure for replacing this part.

221 906 65 00

If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated. I am not doing the work myself, but I am interested in the procedure what should be replaced along with this part and what checks should be done.

As usual thanks for the quick replies. :-)

For reference this is pre-facelift so I took delivery in January 2008

You don't need anything- just push the front seat all the way back and dive in there. Pretty straight forward. There are bunch of screws holding the upper footwell panel. Once off look with a flashlight inside. You will see the blower motor assembly which is held in place with few bolts. Take a picture before you remove it and use it as a reference when putting the new one in.

Thanks.

I am still looking for the mercedes guide though that explains it and possibly mentions what other checks are meant to be done...

Long story but maybe background will help. I had the blower assembly replaced, and then shortly after there was an issue with a tensioner that resulted in frayed belts.
What I am trying to establish is during the procedure when it is done by Mercedes should they be checking and advising that the tensioner should be changed, should it have been changed then and what is the position regarding the frayed belts.

i am not following you. the belt tensioners are in no way related to the blower motor. if they are replacing your blower motor they are not going to be checking belts and tensioners or anything for that matter under the hood.

the service manual you are after does not exist in a "book" form. it is all pdf documents in the "workshop information system" (wis) which is a software package that is available to dealers. there is also a "hacked" version that you can obtain from various sources.

For whatever reason my dealer said that they did have to remove some "belts" and they refitted them as they were still in good condition or so they claim. This makes me wonder what work was actually done on the car and why I would like to see the service manual.

the part number you posted is for a radiator fan. is that what you're going to replace? I think ALX thinks you are referring to the heater motor "blower"

I am not that we'll versed with the inner workings of my S350. All I did is quote the part number they replaced. Mercedes replaced that part then I had a tensioner fail and frayed belts. Ironically the car had about 50000km and it is never raced so was a weird failure. My S320, E320, C220, E230 never had these issues have or had way more mileage.
What I wanted to know is
During the change of the blower what checks should be done, should the tensioner have been checked should the belt have been changed.

Pure knowledge thing so I know if this part is changed again what else should be changed. It's water under the bridge and about $15k later.

If you're referring to the radiator cooling fan:

Ok so there are no checks that Mercedes should do?
I.e. They were not obligated to check the tensioner or the belts?

And yes the part you showed is what they replaced.
