spark plug

Hi everyone . I had a 2012 s550 with almost 100K miles .it's time for me to change spark plug.I wonder should I buy the oem one on parts.com or buy the bosch one on rock auto.com. Also i am curious is the cheap code reader that AutoZone use will damage the mercedes computer? My mechanic told me only the mercedes specific diagnostic tool can read the code. I think his lying.

here are the links for both of it

I had an extra question I got a check engine light for P0430.The mechanic said I had a clog catalytic system. And I change the catalytic system and the sensor. I wonder is it necessary to change the whole system or it can be just a fault sensor?thanks

I'd go with the genuine MB part to ensure the gap is set correctly. Only $40 difference. Any OBD2 reader will work for standard emission codes BUT they will not be able to read detailed MB specific codes. You need the MB STAR system for that.

It is probably the cat. P0430 is only raised if the ECU detects O2 in the second oxygen sensor. There should be none.

If your scanner can't see the oxygen levels before and after the cat, you can use an infrared thermometer. The exhaust should be hotter after the cat once fully warmed up.

He's lying!!!!! It will do no damage to your computer what so ever to have it read by a OBD code reader.

The best thing to do is ask your mechanic if he's lying to you. If he says no, then do all of the repairs he recommends. If he says yes, then only have him do the repairs that he says he didn't lie about.
