Tire recommendation S63
I'm willing to give up some performance for tires that are harder and will last longer. Any recommendations please? 255/35/20. I'm in Houston btw, so it is mostly hot over here.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3, apparently they're the best in their category, anyway they're extremely quiet and are performing very well. I've had them for almost 10,000 miles, you can barely see any wear.

Tires are not the place to skimp, especially on a $140k car that still costs more than $10k per year total operating cost. You could save maybe $300/yr by getting the cheapest tires available. Park the car for two weeks and save on that much in fuel!

I think you might have misunderstood me, I wasn't saying I want to cheap out. I just want something that will last me longer, so I wanted to find out what others have that have given them good mileage.

I had these tires on my last buy. Most use on highway in SC and GA. Hot climate. They were a smoother ride which I have noticed since I have the Pilot Super Sport now but they didn't last the guaranteed 45,000 miles. Depending the place you buy they will give you a prorated credit through Michelin towards your next set of tires.

Since April, 2015. But I do swap my winter tires on from Dec - early April.
I've put around 9k miles on them and they still have most of the tread. 613 lb/ft of torque have not torn up the tires. They handle great on dry & wet roads. Light snow is OK too.

Cost of gas, insurance, maintenance, and repairs could easily approach $10k/year, especially on an AMG car. And that doesn't even include possible car payments.

I have had Michelin AS3s on my S550 and they have been great for 10K miles now. Always had good luck with Michelin's though.

But for an Amg out of warranty I can see $10k/year ownership costs with lots of miles driven in city and aggressively.

Using michelins AS3's here also, wearing much better than the conti' that came with it. Quiet and smooth.

Total cost of ownership includes depreciation and taxes, so it is huge on a new MB. $120k over five years for a new e63s, half in the first two years!

On 2 sets of AS3s, total mileage was a little north of 40K so 20/set for me. Today I put the 221 on Bridgestone Turanzas Serenity Plus. I have Turanzas on other cars and decided to change the MB out. Just a quality tire experiment.
Whoever does the install, make sure they can protect your wheels in the process.
Good luck.
