I am an owner! 2011 S63!
63k miles for 46k.
Was sold as CPO twice and is out of warranty for the first time in it's life on Jan 14th. Every option except for rear seat convenience. All maintenance done at MB and has a new battery and starter this month.
More later!

Yeah, it seems like 60k is when all the fun starts. That's likely why the previous owner, despite knowing its perfect service and maintenance history, cut his losses and dumped it the millisecond the warranty expired. Cool car though. Does it have the B&O audio?

I was just trying to be helpful. It's no secret how I feel about owning one of these cars out of warranty, especially an AMG or 600.
But I'll just quietly sit in Comp's penalty box and watch his S63 non-warranty show. Somebody send me some popcorn. And don't forget the salt and butter this time dammit! This could be a long show, so please order the extra large tub with free refills.

I really like the AMG. For me it takes the grandpa out of the S class. The W222 S63 are still crazy expensive.
I like the idea of a warranty and I think they can be a great value.
I am blessed with a whole bunch of very good independent shops and with this cars service history...

The rear diff went bad on my 13 S63 with 32k miles... The diff was gonna be like $6500 for part and labor I was told. Very happy it's CPO'd and covered.
Last month, my soft close door went bad. 2 months before that, 2 TMPS sensors went bad... And I had 1 more issue I can't recall. Had the car since this pervious April, so, not even a year.
If you do wanna look at a warranty, call CarChex. They warrantied my 09 CLS63 I had before this S and they were amazing.

What kind of sucks is that warranty coverage will be fairly expensive starting at 63k miles. It probably would have made more sense to spend a little more to get a low mileage S63 where the warranty coverage is much cheaper with more available years and miles of coverage. Probably would have cost less all in with purchase price and warranty than buying the high mileage car and warranty.
Oh well. Buy the warranty any way. Even though it won't be cheap, it will likely pay for itself at least twice over in the next 2 years. And be sure to only get exclusionary coverage. Named component coverage on that car is almost worthless. As soon as you run out of coverage, sell the car immediately.

Buy it!!! It's a must!! My m158 engine gave out on my cls63 and it almost cost 15k to get fixed. Now 15k dollars later and only 10k miles it's making a knock on sound again! I'm going after the mechanic legally. Don't make the same mistake I did. Get that warranty!

It's going to be really expensive for a service contract on any AMG car, much less a 221, regardless of miles. Back when I was shopping my 2010 I found a nice CL550 with 50k miles. For a top tier low deductible exclusionary I was getting quotes of $12-15k. I couldn't find anyone to write a CL63 I found with low miles. As far as I know, only MB will warranty a used AMG (as a CPO).
On this car, I'd self-insure and play the odds. Too bad the B&O disappoints. You can do a sub but the trunk is so vault-like plan on substantial power and a couple of 10" or 12" to get it to punch through into the cabin. I've seen some where they open up the chamber in between the rear seat to create a port.
