ECU tuning issue
As per my other thread, I am currently trying to pull the map down from the car and my chosen tuner is having issues with this.
They say they are unable to read the map via OBD or via K - Line and that my car has an odd ECU that requires the eeprom to be removed from the ecu, written to, then soldered back on. Its a BOSCH ME 2.7.2 - A2751500879
I have heard of many 221's/220 65's being tuned, and have not heard of this being an issue.
Can anybody help?

Was looking for recommendations for capable tuners rather than instructions on how to read the ECU myself, but thanks.

The ME 2.7.2 in the M275 S600/S65 is locked down tight and most devices cannot do anything with them. A seed key is required to unlock it, and only Xentry can flash it with official Mercedes-Benz flash files for maintenance reasons. This ECU must be read on the bench, and contains two 512k chips, which contain identical data. The chips can be desoldered and read with the appropriate hardware, or read using an ECU programmer/reader that supports this ME. The KESS V2 OBD2 programmer, however can WRITE to an ME 2.7.2 over OBD2, but not read. The problem is that most tuners require the original data to be read first to ensure compatibility of their tune before it is written. Once read, you should be able to apply as many tunes as you like using KESS V2, and perhaps some other OBD2 programmers.

Thanks
In the end, I had the ecu socketed and flashed by a company in the UK. I would rather not use EC as I have had bad experiences with them in the past.

What bad experiences have you had? Jake is on here and I am sure would want to do whatever possible to make it right. PM me if you prefer not to post publicly.
