My driver's window had stopped working and I took it to my local dealer last week. They did a full diagnosis and ruled out a bad switch or window motor. They ended up installing a software update to the window control module which fixed it.

Since you have multiple windows that are not working, my guess is that it's an issue with the window control module. It could be bad or just need a software update. Since you seem to be unable to diagnose the issue yourself, then you may want to let your local dealer check it out.

Let your local dealer handle this job.

Your main gateway is the comm hub for all your modules. This is a dealer job. Trust me. Replace main gateway and take it from there.

You are getting in way over your head. This is not a simple part swap. Unless you are a certified Mercedes mechanic who is up to date on their latest systems and how to properly use the STAR and Xentry DAS system, you shouldn't even be considering this job for yourself. You'll likely turn your car into a giant paper weight if you try this yourself. If you really want to keep your car, spend the money and let a professional handle this job.

This is more proof positive that a warranty is an absolute must on these cars.

The gateway is a separate part. But you cannot just swap it- it requires coding - something that can be done at a dealer or offline by somebody who judging by the questions you are asking you are not (nothing personal).

Generally when dealing with electronics you should go to the dealer as there are many and expensive mistakes that can be made while servicing it.

The CGW (Central Gateway) is a device that allows the dealer diagnostic multiplexer to communicate with all of the modules in the vehicle and interrogate them for fault codes, perform actuations, etc. It is located under the driver side panel under the dash. This device is programmed with the options your car has, the country the car was built for, and is responsible for communication of data over the CAN network in your car to many different modules. If all of the windows failed, it could be an interruption in the CAN network causing this. Can you operate the windows using the Summer Opening feature (aiming the SmartKey at the driver's door handle and holding the unlock button?).

The first thing that I would recommend is have a dealer or independent shop perform SCN coding on this module. This will download the current software from Daimler and flash it to your current CGW, ensuring the software has not been corrupted or tampered with. It will also program the CGW afterwards with the options your car has, and program it the way it was intended when it left the factory. If it accepts flashing and coding, run the Quick Test again to see if the error still appears. This could likely remove the error in the CGW. Then test the windows and see if anything changed there. If they are still inoperative, then start checking the door/window modules and also ensuring they all have the current software.

You will need to have a dealer perform these steps as they will need to login to Daimler AG's servers to obtain the flash data and SA data for your VIN and program it to your CGW module. If you do not have a login and password to Daimler AG, you cannot obtain this information/data.

I would recommend taking the vehicle to the dealer and requesting them to update the software on the CGW and re-apply SCN coding to it. If it accepts the flash, it should be revived. The Quick Test you posted does not show the software version, which indicates to me one of three things - 1) a bad CGW, 2) a CGW with corrupt firmware, or 3) a CGW with hacked firmware installed on it to block mileage from being transferred to EZS. Replacing it with a new one and installing the newest software and configuring it could make your odometer read differently if it has been tampered with, but I am not saying that is the most likely scenario. It could be any of the three causing it.

Firmware on newer models is now digitally signed, so it can't be altered nearly as easily.

Best to have someone pull fault codes using MB diagnostics.
