Is it silly to go square stance on an S600?

@Welwynnick
I have a S550 and now i may buy a set of SLS-wheels if they fit. I am aware that i will have to use spacers - bolted on spacers that is.
Wheels and tire dimensions are:
Front 9.5x19 ET60 shod with 265/35-19 Spaced to ET43 (original)
Rear 11x20 ET68 shod with 295/30-20 Spaced to ET ?
---maybe 43 rear as well - as i believe that may place the wheel right in the middle of the fender.
Also believe one have to use all the room the fender can offer to take this wheels ?
Do you reckon that this wheels will fit !

Bad idea. Find a set of wheels with the correct (or slightly lower) offsets. Big spacers are a recipe for vibration problems, and the 221 is sensitive to vibration issues. Unless someone was giving me the SLS wheels for free. Then I might try it.

I have no expirience with the w221 and if it`s vibration sensitive in the front it might not be a good idea. Browsing threads i came to read that you wrote this - and it made me wonder if you did expirience vibration issues at a later stage ?

It's closer. I'm true flush with a rear offset of 23mm and a front of 28mm. I'm running OEM S63 wheels (43mm) and 20mm HR Trak spacers rear and 15mm front. I loved the look immediately but I expected vibration issues so I was surprised when I felt nothing when they went on. It seems to handle a little crisper with the lower offsets as well. You do need to Dremmel off the little tab inside the rear fender wels or they'll rub on bumps --Unqoute

The 221,was definitely smoother without the spacers but it looked so good I just lived with it, knowing if it really bothered me I could just pull them off and be at the OEM offset. It wasn't until I pulled the spacers to trade the car that I realized how much smoother the car was without them.
In your case, you need the spacers to use the wheels. Which is why I said if the wheels are super cheap or free, all you'd be out is a few hundred for the spacers.
What do the SLS wheels look like? I'm thinking they're probably available as a rep in 35mm or 45mm.

Sadly they won`t fit without spacers with their ET60 / ET68. They`re sooo niiice though.. :-)
I`ll take it you did use bolted spacers - not just the ones you "slip on" without bolting with their own set of nuts.
I have used a pair of 15mm on my -87 Porsche 928 S4 with absolutely no problems - but just at the rear axle though...
