Question Different wheels, now with TPMS, what next?

Got proper wheels for my S350 which have the TPMS in them.
How do I go about telling the car, which sensor is where?
The air pressure is correct on both axles, but how can it tell the difference between wheels?
I reckon it can't and needs to be told; by whom. Even I do not know which is which.

If they are the correct sensors the car should reset itself after a mile or so.

Agreed. When I rotated wheels once, the TPMS came up in wrong positions in the display (easy to tell because different front/rear pressures), but within a few miles it self-corrected. So, you should see numbers in your display immediately, and they should re-configure to correct locations automatically. If you're not seeing tire pressures at all, then a different problem.

you can't make a post like this with showing pictures of these proper wheels.

Not sure if images help, but here they are...

Before: no TPMS, was 275/30 ZR20

After: with TPMS, 255/45 R18

Forgot to say it is a 2011 S350...

I can't say much about the wheels, other than they are MB alloy; the TPMS sensors I have not seen; the tire is a Bridgestone Potenza.
I only found the reset tire dialogue, but did not look further...

[edit] Now I had a look; the valve stems are rubber and wobbly; looking at images of sensors indicates that TPMS sensors have a rigid valve stem; hence, I do not have sensors on these wheels. Also the Service menu only says "Run flat indicator activated" (or similar); meaning the ESP figures out pressure loss by the difference in the rotational values.

Which then leads to the questions: best place to buy? or best sensors to buy? or should I buy the OEM MB sensors?

Is it just a matter of adding the sensors to the wheels and the car will recognise the sensors?

The manual explains how this TPMS works and is being reset.
I have a nail in the front right, and will have this fixed within the next days, and get the shop to check, whether there is a tire pressure sensor. If not I get some and see, whether the car recognises them.

I see you added the year of 2011, assuming its not a us spec car. Us s classes would have had that.

I have ordered the electronic manual and parts guide, which will tell me where the receiver sits; then I have a look, whether it is there, and if not, I will figure out, whether I can just plug it in and it works

If they aren't working, then you may be using the wrong sensors. The Euro version uses a different frequency than the the US.

BTW, why did you go with those ugly 18" wheels when you had some perfectly fine wheels on there before? The only reason I'd ever change out to those ugly 18's is if I was using them for snow tire duty.

Cool

Well, I may not have the option for the TPMS at all. I haven't got sensors in the wheels; the puncture was fixed and the feedback was: no sensor.
I am not too fuzzed about the TPMS, I get still get notified through the basic system; and I am checking the pressure monthly; given I drive 1,000km per week.

As for the rims: I am not in the 'show off' department. I couldn't care less what the rims look like, but I do care very much about noise levels. And these Zr20s resulted in a cabin noise level of 90dB and over. With the R18 this has dropped by 4 dB... which is less than half the noise I had before. I want a quiet ride and not a 'sand grain detector"
Also, I did not trust these cheap rims; the Merc alloy almost weighs double.
