2015 S550
I guess everyone's interpretation of "super fast" can vary. But I'm sure your car would definitely feel that way compared to a pre-2012 S550. My 600 felt very fast to me for the 1st year or so. But after being settled into the car and being very comfortable with it for over 3 years, the speed part of it just seems meh most of the time. Perhaps that's because I have a fairly short commute to work and rarely get the opportunity to take the old girl out for a romp. But I'm amazed by how many looks and compliments my old car still gets. Perhaps it's the V12 badge on the side, but I have a feeling that regular folks who are not super familiar with MB think that the car is fairly new and are impressed with the muscular look of the big sedan.

That's how my vette feels...slow with over 700hp...anything will feel slow once you get used to it and no matter what, there is always someone faster. Can't use all that power on the street really anyway but it's nice to be able to have it at the track or if someone with a ferrari or lambo needs a reality check about how fast their car really is lol.
Man, I got asked all the time about mine literally everywhere I went. I LOVED that car. The V12 emblem would really get people to ask about. I would see them look over at it and then do a double take.

Congrats!
Congratulations! I have a 221 and love the 222. I’m only a year in to owning the ‘13, so I’ll wait for my CPO to expire in 2019. Love the spoiler. I love diamond white, but won’t buy it because of superstition. Every white vehicle I’ve had has been in an accident which wasn’t my fault. Love it though especially the spoiler detail.

On the 221 I wasnt a big fan of the spoiler, on the 222 I think its needed. Trans shifting on this car is so precise which is what adds to the speed. Im not saying its the fastest car on the road. I have a viper w some wrk to it. I know what fast is. But the power delivery is spot on. I felt myself dipping in traffic which on the 221 I would never even consider.

Yes, it's amazing what MB can squeeze out of a 4.0L V8. When I purchased my GS400 in 1999, that car was pumping out 300 hp and 310 lb/ft.....and it was considered a VERY BIG DEAL. Now they are getting more than double the power and torque from the same displacement with turbo-chargers on 91 octane gas, which is insane. I just wonder how well these high strung engines will hold up over the long run.

Whoops. I thought I replied? Holiday season got my brain fried
Looks great man and glad to help!
So after a couple weeks looking for the right replacemnent found the car i wanted and bought it the next day... Got some good advice from my buddy Jason to leave a deposit on the car before i got there so they couldnt sell it.
So onto details....diamond white, exclusive black nappa, comfort package, Amg sport package, designo black piano black trim, warmth and comfort package, premium 1, drivers assist package, rear spolier and suede headliner!
so after driving for 2 days the cars are pretty night and day. cars handling has improved drastically and it feels lighter and nimbler than the 221, the power increase is noticeable thanks to the twin turbos and flies onto the highway. Interior is amazing ambient lights are brighter and deeper. Burmeister stereo is clearer w much better low end bass response, bluetooth streaming is amazing, main sunroof feels larger, I do feel the back legroom is less but havent tried to verify that. Trunk opens w a kick under center bumper and closes same way. Overall the car def feels more refined and wayy less boaty and so far glad with the swap. Onto a few pics. Whats your thoughts?

I am betting it is mainly the muscular looks of the car. I don't know who designed this W221 body but he seems to know what's attractive in a primal masculine visual way. Especially when you see a W221 slowly making a U turn in front of you. It's like car **** to me.
I get compliments too about my car and people are surprised that it is a five year old car. The W221's exterior body to put it simply looks very attractive.

Agreed. To me it has a distinct, classy and timeless look, separate from the other classes but now it almost blends in with the other classes. The W222 is a nice car with out any question...but all of the car brands are starting to make all of their classes look identical. :-(

I think that statement is too broad because I think a lot of W221 do not age well. Color matters too. Black and White do well.
Pre-facelift models without sport package, standard wheels and "not lowered" don't age well at all IMHO. This includes un-modded S600's which feature some offending standard wheels.
Pre-facelift Sport Package cars fare much better as do the Facelift ones; a lot of bits add to the look. Sport package (plus) cars are the likely the ones that could be called "muscular", best yet when they are lowered a bit.
Bottomline on the W221 is that the sport package is essential for the looks. Add 20" wheels and drop it, then the body proportions play very well together. Some spacers may be needed too to give the car the stance to fill out those flares

Looks good. No more W221 for me! I know I said I would only get another W221 but I am currently looking at a 2015 S63 and 2016 G63 Designo....they are both about the same price give or a take a few bucks but trying to decide which is more adequate and I'd be happy traveling in. Pretty excited! Nice moves to the W222 fellas.

2019 G wagon interior:
I can't stand the tacked on screens they keep doing. Current G class interior, outgoing 2018 model below:
Mercedes didn't do this when every other automaker did it - years ago. Then they decide to do it just the past few years, only to get us all mad, then take it away with the new model and make it look integrated again.
Then for 2017, they put that type of screen in the GLS, when the 2013-2016 was integrated. They could have done it another way.
Then these new screens have a 30% black bezel, when they could have gone at least edge to edge.
Thank god they didn't do that in the W221:
