I have a few updates to report after spending some time with this:

I added a wireless carplay dongle via one of the USB cables. It's a big improvement. No more messing with my phone's hotspot every time I wanted to use apps. Just turn on the car and carplay starts working.

In the stock setup, I could never get my reverse camera to engage. But I verified the camera was working via SDS. So I spliced the wires from the command plug for reverse camera video to an RCA cable and connected to the rear cam RCA plug of the android unit. It works well enough, and although I don't have anything to compare it to, I have to think it's better than having the android unit automatically switch back the the COMAND rear-view screen.

I've had complaints from people over the phone that the microphone doesn't work well. Looks like it's a small hole on the front bezel of the screen. I'm going to look for alternatives, maybe a USB microphone? Anyone tried that?

I don't have phone issues I use the original command for phone calls, the camera splice I also did, but you didn't have to, I did it for the better RVC screen, but you can also change the camera choice in the android to OEM camera and it will switch when in reverse.

Has anyone installed this in the Seattle area, and if so - is there a preferred shop for the installation? I wouldn't date attempt myself.

I've installed a lot its not hard but not for the faint heart either depending on your car may also need some coding and wired mod, so the shop must be prepared for this...

I saw on your instragram a video of carplay being controlled by the comand knob. Any insight on getting that setup?

Does cellular data works with those displays? I put T-Mobile sim card to my unit, but I can't get connected to the network.

Depends on where you are and whether the mobile bands are covered for your provider. In the UK I have a mobile sim running fine.

I assume you're in the US so the answer is no. At first I was tethering via wifi with my iphone. That wasn't very reliable. Recently I bought a mobile router, connect to it via usb with the iphone to tether, and the android screen connects to the router via wifi. The router is usb powered so it's great for a car application. It's been much more reliable this way, and provides wifi for the rest of the car passengers as well.

Hello I have a C216 facelift (NTG3.5) with TV. I can see AUX and USB options in my unit but I cant figure out where the ports are
My questions are:
  1. Will it work on my car?
  2. Does it use the car microphone array for calls? And obviously speakers?
  3. Can anyone verify the hardware specs for the unit?
  4. Can it use the GPS antenna that is built in the car instead?

White and red RCA should be your audio input.
1. Yes
2. You can use either car microphone or display microphone for calls.
3. There are different hardware versions. Post link you're interested to purchase.
4. Not sure about that, but included GPS antenna which come in the package with display is surprisingly very good.

Can you confirm the hardware specs of the unit please? Are you experiencing any lag in the UI like elements freezing for a second or two etc?
This is probably the unit i am getting http://www.ckmcardes********/cl/c216...ouchscreen-rhd

There is a cable referenced earlier in this thread that allows you to tap into the car's GPS antenna signal.

Does this work even if you use USB hub? I have bluetooth ELM327 adapter, but I'm getting error message for incorrect PIN/password. Screen never ask for PIN/password, for some reason once I select OBD adapter to pair I get incorrect PIN/password message. I don't know if there is different way how to pair the adapter with the screen.

No sound issue FIXED.

My car is s550 2006 JAPANESE imported.

I ordered this screen from China and they emailed me the instructions and diagrams.

Jp imported usually came with tv and no AUX, so the seller asked me to follow the TV diagram. I connected as instructed but no sound.

Sent him pics and we Scyped to set up again but nothing. He consulted with their engineer and replied that JP tv in the unit can not accept the android TV box so try to find the AUX cable behind fuse box or below gloves box. But there is no cables there. So I gave up and sent my car to a guy who always installs android for all kind of cars and take him less than 5 min to fix it.

If you have a car like my model so here are the steps:
1- program the c unit to activate AUX function.
2- there will be three harness came with screen to have audio (none worked for me).
3- the electrician guy pulled three wires out of the aux harness (red, black and white) that driginate from the screen and connected them to three blue wires in the (aftermarket) power caple. Which are they? Actually, I could not see that clearly when he did them but I was sure that he did not cut any of the original wires.

I guess they are all made by one manufacturer but they got sold by resellers on Aliexpress.
Mine costs 680$ to my door in 5 days.
