@WranglerYJ 2.3.0 fixes few things over 2.0.9, but it looks like it requires some basic configuration as well, so it might feel frustrating at the beginning. Missing pixels in NTG are MCU-related, not the OS-related, so no changes there. I was told to come to the shop later in the afternoon for an MCU update - I'll report back how it went.

As you mentioned, "all the problems were fixed", does this include the loop cycle as well? It really is annoying that even after a short stop there is a full boot cycle.
Yep, BMW community has a quite good support and business around the unit, I'd pay something to get a new launcher which looks like the older unit which had the merc graphics, link .

You can change interfaces from factory settings including to the older style. It’s not as nice as the one the older unit had but it’s similar.
How long from engine start does it take one of these to boot up and be 100% ready to use? And does it show the COMAND screen while booting, or an Android splash screen, or what?

it's around 15 secs, and reverse camera or NTG overlay (radio/seats etc) is available immediately, so if you start your day from reversing from the driveway, you won't even notice ;-)

So update is done and it didn't solve anything for me, possible made it even worse - while using the carplay with 4G, unit heats so much that I can smell it. I'm starting to wonder that could the unit be defective?
Second thing, which also existed before the update, knob doesn't always work. Trying to figure out from where I could find the newest MCU update, maybe it solves something.

NEVER had these issues and I have hand android in my w221 since the 9in screen model back in 2017 (which had a better aspect ratio), then I had the old style twice then the snapdragon current model, GPS always on point never hot ever, I have driven my car from NYC to FL using the unit non stop round trip and it never even glitched.... maybe you need to check your connections... for GPS I share the COMAND antenna, the puck antennas included sucks if you ask me....
as for the over heating, could be a short, the comand display originally have a vent behind it, so it keeps the screen cool... maybe yours is not working but even if shouldn't be hot...

I am testing mine on a bench and I can tell you that the unit gets hot while downloading heavily (over wifi). Using carplay and doing a lot of internet at the same time will make it heat up. That's where the vent behind the unit comes in handy. However, it shouldn't be THAT hot...that you can smell it. Get an external carplay adapter and use that, in case you're not doing that already.

Yep, ordered a Carlinkit wired dongle, lets see what it does. Some Jeep/ Porsche etc. users were reporting problems with iPhone X, I found my old iPhone 6, going to try that to see is it a phone related issue.
And while I'm waiting, lets put on a winter wax and do the ABC fluid change..
edit: no problems with iPhone 6. Trying to find an iPhone 6s or newer with the latest iOS to be sure it’s a phone, not software related issue. iPhone 6 can only be updated to 12.something.

Hi WranglerYJ and amgs63dxb, according to my understanding you have managed to connect the android touchscreen with the NGT3 japanese version (Panasonic). Which pins of NTG3 you used to connect the audio and how is the audio quality? Is it analog or digital input? Did you used any most box?
@Jefe47 , yes, you can, the key word here is tasker (I believe there was a ready-made solution to start things in split screen using one app, but you need to search) it was never a thing I would require in the first place...
You cannot rearrange the launcher. It just is what it is. You can change apps behind certain apps and play with icons, but that's all. The screens I pasted show you how I did it - replaced music app with headunit reloaded and made it look like Android Auto instead.
@sylvec mine had aux in the glove box. Pin 15,16,6,5 if I'm not mistaken is the AUX, already provided in mine. There is no need for MOST, it's not W211 . Analog input.
Thats exactly what I to do..... is just move the apps & icons around.. I have quite a few apps on mine... I like to use live wallpapers on my screen (which looks great by the way) but anyway I got alot of em & those including my apps have **** all over the place.... I want to add some order to my screen
You will have to change the launcher app. MB devices use something called KSW Launcher. There are several ways to customize it using so called KSW Overlay. You can technically reorder your things playing with factory config file (but this is just what I read, not tested). Basic customization that does not require rocket science degree include changing theme icons, all text strings etc...
As for launchers: there are several Android launchers out there but not all will scale to this screen ratio. Also there is a question of knob... Simplest way would be to ask on Discord... https://discord.gg/6HrawYy2
Their launcher is pretty crappy and I hate the fact that they tried to copy MBUX and didn't put any additional work into it. Hopefully that will change in time. The overlay app is an OK solution but pretty bootleg. If you're into having widgets you absolutely need you can just install a different launcher altogether.
Another solution that I use is installing "taskbar" Pretty useful little app. It basically adds a windows style start button that can search/start apps and many many other things. @pillowshot , I gave up - they fixed it to the point where it's no longer a visible problem. But it's not 100% perfect. The issue is with my Jap-specs unit and it does not show up on EU models... anyways, I don't care - I run in Android Auto mode 100% of times and don't use NTG for anything...
What’s up guys? Just recently installed the 10.25" Android 10 8CORE 8GB RAM Car Radio for my W221 (2006 s500) and everything is working but missing the esp + etc virtual buttons and the device recognizes the car as an E class, And the guy who installed it has never had this problem with his s class and other customers! Is there anybody who can help since my seller from Ali express hasn’t responded yet... attached some pics just in case also!
I just upgraded my device. Replace it with am Android 10 unit. But I cannot get the NTG screen to work. Tried all resolutions in factory settings.
EDIT: fixed the no signal: you need the supplied lvbs(?) box. With the previous Android screen it was not needed for NTG 3.5. Now its needed.
I also can’t get the buttons to work to control suspension, parking sensors, ... they appear on the screen, but the buttons don’t respond.
EDIT: fixed; the buttons don’t work when the front panel (with airconditioning controls) connectors are disconnected. I guess the buttons use the same control unit, and the control unit is in error state when the connectors are disconnected.
Any tips?
Edit: in the second picture i am holding a connector, plug this into the white harness with the single orange cable to make the buttons work (esp, ride hight, parking sensors).
