Daily driving S550
Hello all.. new to the forum. I use my 2008 S550 as a daily driver. While in the Navy I had a chance to visit Italy.. guess what? They use the S class and the BMW 7 series as a taxi there. So daily driving the "King of the street" shouldn't be an issue. Just my two cents.

I know it's a really old thread but I thought I'd chime in. I picked up my '12 S550 4Matic almost a year ago and it's my daily driver in MN year-round. I switch out to dedicated winter tires during the snowy months. I grew up driving big American cars from the 60's and 70's so I don't consider this a big car in any way. The only thing that I don't like is people door dinging me. My car is black and I am semi-OCD so it's not a good combination.
I was going to post a pic here but realized that I don't have any! All the pictures the Mercedes is in,it's in the background of the Harley's.

As a former Eclass owner (1980 300d, 1987 300E, 1997 E320) I can agree with “no bad day” in an Eclass. (Well except for below zero days and the diesel refused to start leaving me stranded in the Minneapolis airport parking lot).
The w221 is the finest driving sedan on the road IMHO. Engineering and build quality are equivalent yet superior to Eclass that extra notch above. Quieter due to enhanced sound proofing glasses and moldings. Seating is superior in front and extra superior if your s has the “rear seat package “ with heat and cool and adjustable seats. 2005+ 2008 styling are classic Mercedes Benz round headlights slightly bulging wheel wells sculpted hoods warm interiors, all with lasting materials. That is why I am keeping my Sl r230, and w221.
Always remember, depreciation is your enemy. Buy used and well maintained MB and you will be happy.
Mercedes are great daily drivers: commuters, grocery getters, weekend cars taxis limos delivery vehicles name it. (Assumes one has the means for proper care and feeding, they do cost more.)
