2012 SRS airbag light R46 ETR squib code 9240
My 2012 W221 popped an SRS air bag warning message and light.I can reset the message each time I start the car, but the RED air bag light stays on... always... brightly.
I drove it for a few weeks, hoping for it to magically turn itself off.
Then I decided to upgrade my scanner, before I would head to the dealer, with open wallet in hand.
I bought an iCarSoft CR Plus.
It read the code and removed it.
It's only been a couple days, but no message and no red light.
The dash message was: Front Left SRS Malfunction Service Required 1 of 1
The scanner code was: 9240 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R46 (Driver buckle ETR squib) is too high
For now, I'm waiting for the code to return, and then see if I can fix it.... hopefully, when it gets warmer.
Does anyone happen to know where the R46 connector is? I presume that I will start under the seat.

After a couple weeks, the airbag warning light returned. Same message.
I reset it again last weekend.
I'm waiting for warmer weather before looking closer.
Anyone have any clues on where to start? Otherwise, I'll start poking around under the seat.

Despite all your help. I decided to actually take my car to the dealer, and take my lumps.
I also had an air ride suspension "Malfunction"... but that's another story,
Anyway, the bill for the SRS fault was $610.
I haven't driven it much since the repair. I hope it sticks.

Damn I think you made a mistake here, especially after you bought the scanner and knew what the problem was. That seat belt buckle is a pretty cheap part on ebay and then it's one screw holding it on. You'd want to take the seat out or at least unbolt it in the car to swap it out. Anyways, live and learn I guess.

Yeah... on one hand, I'm getting too old and tired to pull a seat, and that's a pretty simple job.
On Ebay or MB parts I think it is still a $200 part.
In hindsight, I should have taken a chance and spent the $200, plus my labor... versus $600 from the dealer.
Let that be a lesson for the next guy.

Yeah didn't mean to come down on you, just frustrating since I know how close you are. I dealt with this same issue when I put a new driver seat in my car that had been in an accident and I got the same error because the buckle had deployed when that previous car was in an accident. Hopefully the next person sees this and will know they just need to swap out the buckle.
