Question Removing front cigar lighter

Hi,

I don't smoke so I never noticed my front cigar lighter stopped working who knows how long ago. Probably my kid stuck something in it and blew the fuse, or so I thought. However, there is no burnt fuse message on dashboard. After looking around I found out it's fuse 43 located on the engine bay fuse box. However, the fuse is fine.

Next suggestion was to check one of the relays on the fuse box that's in the rear seat arm rest compartment. But, not sure which.

Would appreciate any suggestions and if possible how to take out the lighter in case it's not the relay.

Thanks in advance.

Pull lighter to check may need replacement if so, part # 0009063800. Wiring diagram: lighter = R3, illumination R3e1, heating element R3r1, connector R3x1, W15/1 ground (right foot well), and Z81/4 connector sleeve.

I found a penny in the bottom of my front lighter socket, somehow it did not make contact with the positive and ground but would also prevent the socket from supplying 12V.

It’s a power socket rather than a lighter. Note the no smoking symbol on the rubber pad for the cubby floor. All USA cars come with the smoking package option, but the non option parts are available to retrofit.

The lighter element itself is brand new. I can tell there is no power in the socket because USB adapter does not work either. I checked the relay R in the back seat fuse box and it's OK. Only thing I can think of is that the lighter assembly is bad or disconnected.

I would like to take it out to check but not sure what needs to be pulled out on the console. Seems there are two screws covered with a small rubber plug on each side of the ashtray. I'll try taking those out to see I I can get to the connecting cables.

Thanks.

Yes, the two plugs and screws need to be removed, followed by the cupholder, which holds the lighter/power port and the ashtray assembly in. Like in this video;
