Personal to Konigstiger The MAN

Konigstiger- it has been years since I reached out to you...2008 or so? Danged if I can figure out how to directly message you so I am trying this.
My 2007 CLS550 would have the check engine light on for years when I didn't drive it. . 91K miles now. But after driving it the light would go out. Last year the light came on and stayed on . Needing a smog check I took it to a Santa Barbara independent shop and they told me they needed to replace the camshaft senors and magnets and then change the oil to the tune of $1,750 and that MAY OR MAY NOT fix the problem. If it did not fix the problem I would be looking at something with the timing chain which would be "very expensive". They won't have the parts until Tuesday. My question is should I take it to Mercedes for a second opinion or does this sound reasonable. ppilot5@hotmail.com

Check it our what is the error code and whether your car impacted by balance shaft issue or not, Seem your car having problem with camshaft and timing and I do believe that change camshaft senors and magnets will not help, rare M272 & M273 have these parts failure.

You need to check timing mark, camshaft gears, timing chain are suspected problem.
