Where to get W221 S600 722.6 transmission rebuild?

So my renntech S600 the other day when hitting it pretty hard from a dig seemed to throw itself into neutral. Car was still in drive but felt like neutral. revved to redline and went nowhere. Stopped, put in park and back in drive and it drove fine again although I did not try and beat on it.

Threw this code.... 0730 "The transmission ratio is impermissible".

Who can build these and build them stronger than stock to hold the massive torque it makes with renntechs mods?

THX!

Mercedes USA has a rebuilt parts program.

What makes you think you need a rebuild?

Replace conductor plate and the connector.

Sounds more like you need a new conductor plate/new transmission speed sensors. Pretty easy DIY. Change the fluid, filter, and TCU connector while you’re in there.

the 722.6 trans is pretty robust...

Doing all that this weekend... new conductor plate, connector, filter, gasket, and a complete fluid flush/refill with Pentosin ATF 134. I'll report on how it goes after it's all done. I might even shoot some video of the process, but since it's an hourly rental bay I'm not going to concentrate on that.

I guess I could/should try that first. If it does it again after that I suppose trans or valve body?

Transmission ratio impermissible translates to most likely slippage. Check your fluid level and condition. If it's all good, you might a clutch pack burnt out. Very common on V12 engines due to high torque. Typically the conductor plate will give you speed sensor issues.

First thing is to check the fluid level is right.
Even dealers get it wrong.
It's difficult and exacting.

So I bought a dipstick for my trans on FCP euro but its WAY too long. Any leads on one that actually fits? I will say the fluid is filthy. Not black, but BROWN.

It's supposed to be like that. It's not a permanent dipstick, it's a service tool to be used to check the fluid level only. After use you replace the O-ring, cap, and lock to seal up the dipstick tube.

I hit my S65 hard this morning from 0 to 70. RPM seems to be stuck at 3500. Tap the brake and RPM dropped out of it. Drove normally for the rest of the way home.
The transmission filter and fluid were replaced 2000 miles ago from a MB dealer out of my state. Is this the case of low level fluid or something else? If low level fluid, how to check? Is it possible to add 1/2 liter from the top dipstick tube?

I added all my fluid via the dipstick tube. Absolutely

So I decided to take a look at the transmission fluid via the dipstick. To my surprise, it's brown from a service just 2000 miles ago. Going to do the transmission fluid exchange with suctioning... Remove and refill with the same amount of fluid.

The service notes said fluid and filter changed so I believe only 4.5liter got removed.
I was able to remove 4.0liter so I guess I'll be doing it again after the next 2000 miles.

need to use the proper tool to force all the fluid out of the transmission and torque converter. FCP Euro sells this tool...

Update: Decided to remove and refill transmission fluid after 1000miles. This time the fluid was hot and I was able to removed 4.5liter. The fluid color looks good this time around so I believe you just need to do one extra fluid exchange after the standard fluid and filter change.
A better idea would be to perform the fluid exchange then drop off the car for fluid and filter service if you don't want to mess with guessing the fluid amount and the temperature.Where to get W221 S600 722.6 transmission rebuild?-photo949.jpg

What is the difference between a V12 722.6 and a normal 722.6? The 722.6 and its dodge copies are probably the most common 5 speed in the USA with kits and rebuilt transmissions available everywhere. Yet most of the rebuilt transmissions or overhaul kits you can buy don't list the S600 or S65 as applications.

The V12 transmissions are smoother and beefier because of higher quality internals.

The transmission for all the Kompressor V8 and turbo V12 engines is a different unit to lesser models. It's very similar indeed, but the whole transmission is about 3/8" longer. The epicyclic gearsets are longer, and the clutch packs are bigger. There are also several external differences to accommodate the different size.
