I'm going to look into the oxygen sensor thing. My mechanic thought the battery was the issue (*The first time it was scanned there were many voltage-related issues, although the car is fine) so we replaced that and it did nothing.
I'm thinking the Sensor 1 Bank 1 O2 sensor is not making a good connection with the wires or its bad. But I've owned the car for ~7,000 mi, and I've had absolutely no problems...
Ill update what fixes it for my car.
this whole thing around CAT sensors is frustrating, what's causing it to report that fault and or which of many sensors misbehaving is the real issue and can be a minefield - we have some that think a long drive or petrol tank treatment will fix them - that is utter drivel - they just break !!!!
these poor sensors sit getting baked to death at high temps in dirty exhaust fumes for 10 plus years - and eventually its often little heaters inside that fail - but few of us understand this or that we should expect to replace them as a serviceable item - the BIG scam is the crazy cost to buy and what jokers charge to replace them - its 10 mins labour and $35 to change each one !!!
but the crooks make out its world ending (mostly as we have scare me lights on the instrument cluster and sometimes funny running) - diagnostics should be FREE !!! and they aren't $250 each (well they are from crooks are us parts suppliers) - funny that you can get direct from suppliers for $35 each - posted to your HOME from China !!!!!
So back to the issue - misfires from faulty coil packs, worn engines burning oil and blocked CAT due to a lack of exercise or running the wrong fuel will make life hard - but it CAN'T blow the heater circuit that allows them to function - or rip the wires off driving over rough terrain - that's just heat, age and vibration or tough luck...

Below I attached a guide I made on how to change this sensor, it's simple on paper but working in tight spaces makes things very hard.
Good luck and let me know of any questions!!

It's standard to replace them in pairs but I thought I could outsmart the car and just do one, not with an S-Class.
