Question S550 Engine oil, is 10 quarts ok or too much?

I changed my engine oil today at the Mercedes dealership and they put 10 quarts in my engine as it is shown in the receipt.
According to the manual and other online resources this car takes 8.5 - 9 quarts of engine oil.
So is it gonna damage my engine or it is fine? What should I do?
I would be thankful if you share your experiences.

Stay away from that dealership $100 labor for an oil change is way too much....

If at all possible, stay away from ALL dealerships.

By the way, just check the oil with the dipstick. If the level is correct, don’t worry, they simply charged you for oil they didn’t use.

Typically these cars hold about 9.5 Quarts of oil, so definitely check with the dipstick, it is most likely at the perfect level, if they use 9.5 they are going to charge you for ten. The labor charge is probably a minimum of one "increment", be it an hour or half hour, whatever. They don't break down those increments by the minute.. This is why I do my own oil changes, using a MightyVac that runs on compressed air, and sucks the oil out the top, thru the dipstick tube... replace filter, add new oil, ...Done. Full cost under $100
Especially since the last time at a Benz dealership with my 100% mint S500, they stole my car's brand new looking, clean floor mats replacing them with well worn, dirty, trashed ones, thinking I wouldn't notice. I did. I was amazed that they would do this, but they did!! At first, management didn't believe me, but I told them there were three ways I knew. Dirty, mine were clean as new, Wrong color, mine were original to the car, and scrunched where a short person moved their seat forward apparently scrunching a permanent crease where your foot goes... Frankly, I was highly insulted. I made the dealership order me a brand new set of the correct ones for that car, and I stood back watching and drinking their coffee while their general manager took the garbage out of my car and inserted the new ones. I have not been back. When I traded in that S500 while buying my W221, I kept those floor mats due to the history!! They are in my garage. Your dealer, however, may not be so dishonest... But I wouldn't hold my breath. My MightyVac cost under $100 and I've used it for countless oil changes. These Benzos fill that thing right up to the tip top, 9.5 Quarts. If you think $205 is high for an oil change, take a Maserati to a Maserati dealer for an oil change: Around $700.00 Nowadays, I trust almost NO one with any of my cars. I have an indy, but when he's working on one of them I'm there with him. He is a good guy

Most likely used 9.5 charged you for 10. If it is 1/2 quart over you will be ok. It will not hurt anything

I would *hope* the dealership knows what they are doing. Slightly overfilling a gasoline engine is not nearly as dangerous as a Diesel. The vehicle will sometimes tell you on the cluster ENGINE OIL! REDUCE OIL LEVEL! if it detects it is too light. .5qt I do not see damaging anything.

2010 S550 4matic
My Mercedes is 2010 S550 4Matic and I did oil change by myself.
I filled 10qts Mobil 1 0w40 and the dip showed upper middle.
