TPMS QUESTION

I have a 2012 S63. The low tire pressure warning symbol is on the dash, but when I scroll over to check the actual tire pressure, it shows 37/37 front and 38/38 rear and the numbers are all in white (meaning they're fine). Anyone have an idea of why the symbol is still on even though the tire pressure is okay?

Try reset. Press arrow down to reset then ok. If reset doesn't work then it might be a bad sensor

Yes.
It's also recommended to use plastic covers on the air valves. Metal covers shorten the sensor's life.

Good suggestion, but they're both fairly new. The aux is less than a month old.

Have you checked the pressure in the spare?

Is that to suggest the transmit antenna lives in the stem? Otherwise that doesn't pass the sniff test. Can you point to a link that confirms your theory?

TPMS stems are metal. A metal cap sets up galvanic action that can cause bimetallic corrosion and damage the valve. The current produced is small but it can also interfere with the sensor. This is why TPMS stems never come with metal caps and their use is strongly discouraged. You might get away with it in California, but an area that uses salt in the winter will cause the stems to corrode very quickly if they're capped with a different metal.

if the desired pressure setting (was manually set) very high and you are now a long way from it you'll get a warning....

level them up and press reset

mine doesn't have one on the spare

Yes, that's exactly why. I learned the hard way on my former Toyota 4runner that had metal caps on the valve stems. Thank you for answering and saving me the time of doing so. I run chrome wheels in the summer and use matching chrome caps on the valve stem. In the winter, I switch to alloy wheels and use plastic caps.

oh yes, and the valve cores are nickel rather than the previous brass to avoid corrosion. Don’t replace them with pep boys junk.
