S 400 HYBRID
S400 Hybrid, Power Electronics Module warranty

Hi,

My name is Gabriel, I am from Romania and i am writing this with a big hope for a big help from this nice community.

Two years ago i have bought from Mercedes Benz S400, Hybrid, 2010 year VIN : WDD 22111951A 377354

Currently my car is at the local dealer Mercedes Benz service somewhere near my hometown with a problem at the Power Electronic Module and Hybrid battery. Everything was nice and good until three month ago when my car did not want to start anymore. It has had this symptoms ( of not starting the engine at the first push of the START/STOP button) a few times in the past. In that fatidic day it has done it like 10-12 times.

The error codes that appeared at Mercedes Benz service during the diagnossis are:

P0A1E00 Power Electronic (part A 000 906 47 03) and 0A1F04 Internal Battery (26.000 $ repais costs)

In this moment i am waiting for an answer from Daimler AG, i have made a (friendly) request and asked them for a extended warranty. I do not have to much hope with this but i wanted to clear this option.

During some researches that i have made i was able to find an information that it might help me. I was able to get a picture with the help of an employee from Mercedes Benz Romania, but after this info he had never answered to my calls or WhatApp messages.

So please guys, i need all the experience, knowledge and information that this community can provide.

In the picture named PICTURE A, the first position( 26.05.2016) specifies an damage code which intrigues me:

Is 08 930 32 (7), which according to the Service Campaign Bulletin from June 2015, Number 2015030006 refers to the operation of REPLACING THE POWER ELECTRONIC MODULE. Also indicates that approximately 60 vehicles are affected.

QUESTIONS:

1.) Can anyone tell me how can i know if my V.I.N. is included in this campaign? My guess is that is has been included and my opinion is motivated by the operation number that appeared in Picture A. If i am right, this takes me to the next question.

2.) How/where can i find the warranty period offered for this part? Someone has some official information regarding the warranty for this part? Power Electronics Module A 000 906 47 03

Another code that intrigues me 0893031, which occured at 27.05.2013. This code also belong to a Service Campaign Bulletin, November 2012, Number 2012080004. According to the Service Bulletin there are 2 repairs to be done. One of them 08 93031 (7)..this number 7 appeared also at the previous damage code and i think that somehow they are related.....specifies – Replace Power Electronics Module - (02-641). I am not sure if it reffers to the whole part or just the part that is named on the Primary Parts Information, Converter for Starter, Part Number A 000 906 40 01 05 (Page 6 of this Bulletin Campain). The second repair reffers to software update if i understood correctly.

QUESTION:

1.) How can i find the warranty period offered for this part? Someone has some official information regarding the warranty for this part? Converter for Starter A 000 906 40 01 05

I think that i might have a better chance to repair it if i follow this trail and i hope that i managed to explain well the actual situation and all the information provided are clear. If any other information is needed please write me.

Thank you in advance.

Here all Service Campaigns (SC) and bulletins released by MBUSA see if any SC addresses your concern and use as support for goodwill repair. Not certain if they will apply in your market but you will be able to make the case that MB is aware even if it is in another market. No guarantee but worth a shot. Note SC do not expire and are covered out of warranty however, bulletins are only covered under warranty.

UPDATED INFO

Hi,

Thanks for your information, i manage to solve my problem and repair the car.
I bought a second hand Power Electronic Module from Lituania with 1400 $ plus another 800 $ repairing, diagnosis costs at the Mercedes Benz repairing service. The HV baterry did not need to be replaced..the error for this item was probably as a consequence of the Power Electronic Module malfunction.
Still waiting for reply from MB Romania and Daimler AG regarding the warranty and some other warranty related questions that i have asked.

All the best.

Gabriel,
Having this kind of car in Romania, unless you you have a lot of money to burn, would be a continuous headache, not even mentioning the lack of knowledge of the dealers you’re exposed to.
