Mercedes S400 2010 Hybrid
Mercedes S400 Hybrid Electrical Problem
Hi, my name is Andrei. Recently I bought a Mercedes S400 Hybrid 2010 it has 122000 Miles on it (WDDNG9FB0AA306339). Suddenly the car wont start. Took it to the Mercedes dealer, they said that the computer cant communicate with the power electronics module (A 000 906 47 03). I did some research and find out that this part was under recall program, but this particular part was tested back in 2012 and the recall status was closed. I read the procedure of testing it and there was no error such as "no communication" with the module. A day before the failure I mentioned that the seat memory got strange positions and from time to time the car acting strange, for example I got the ESP errors, ABS and such. The questions is are those problems related, it may be that the poer electronics unit is alive and the problem is in SAM module or something?
p.s. I have attached the picture of the module

Attached MBUSA service campaigns (no expiration, even out of warranty) & bulletins (applicable only under factory or extended warranty).

Had the same issue with my 2010 S400 Hybrid. A/C stopped working.
We measured the voltage between the battery cable and A/C Compressor and it was 0 between leads 1 and 1. We took the Fuse Box panel located on the top of the transmission tunnel out and took it apart. It was a tough process as this entire box is covered in rubberized material. Under that rubberized material there is a metal box that if filled with very hard urethane composite. After couple hours of careful chiseling we were able to get to the 60A fuse. we ran the wires from the fuse outside of the box and filled the whole thing with urethane to seal it off. We built a separate box for the 60A fuse and put it all together. We also tested the box for water resistance and its holding steady. The car ran flawlessly since the repair. Never have a issue with the A/C again and if it ever blows again it will be an easy fuse swap and not entire harness with power control module.

Hi, May i ask what was the symptom on your MB S400?
My MB S400 Hybrid engine won't start occassionally but there were no problems if engine started normally.
Wondering if your solution will help to resolve my issue.
Your response would be highly appreciated.

We had no ac compressor turning on. Engine worked OK.
We fixed the flawed 60amp ac fuse. You have to read codes from the hybrid power train to see your issue first.

Thanks for your reply.
When you say 'read the code from hybrid power train' --> does it mean instrument panel? if yes, i don't see any alert/error msg on my dashboard.
I saw 'N82/2, BMS' related message from MB technician's scanner and MB technician recommend me to replace the high voltage battery which is too expensive.

I see similar problem on my MB S400 and MB dealer recommend me to replace High-voltage battery which is more than car value. Wondering if you can advise me how fix your problem and still with S400 hybrid. Thank you.

I have the same problem!! I purchased a 2010 Mercedes Benz S400 Hybrid last December by March my car shut down in the middle of a busy intersection and I had to get it towed to the dealer, the dealer informed me that I needed a new inverter converter and a hybrid battery, for $20, 000.00 which cost more than the car. On top of that the warranty that I purchased did not cover Hybrids??? so now I am stuck with a car that I can't afford to repair??
I have been searching all over for the parts that I need with no luck I don't care if they're used. also it seems like a pattern we have here with this car , I wonder if there are enough people for a class action lawsuit? this is crazy. I still have to make a few more payments on my car and I can't drive it. Since my car has been sitting so long (I guess) it's suspension has gone it now sitting on the tires. Any suggestions. Tamika

Hi, Can you provide more detail or any document or procedure for such retrofit? do you know roughly how much it cost to convert it to normal car?
#18
The cost is depend on your location. And you must find out a workshop for help. Roughly is about 8K to 10k USD i think.
It is sure will lost its hybrid feature also.
We now suggest the owner repair it back as there is solution for the inverter.

Hi Andrei,

I have the same problem with my S400/2010. The local dealer asked 23.000 Euro for the repair.
Did you manage to solve the problem somehow ? Do you have some information regarding the warranty for the defective parts ? I have received from the local MB service that the Hybrid Batery has 9 years of warranty..I have read somewhere on this forum that the battery has 10 years warranty.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
I did not had any fault code on my dashboard. Suddenly the car could not be started anymore.
The Mercedes Benz service comunicated me that i have to replace this 2 parts in order to fix the car.
A0009064703( power electronics module) and A2213400600 (hybrid battery). For the hybrid battery they told me that the warranty is 9 years. Do you have any oficial information regarding this ? maybe the warranty period for the power electronics module also ?
I will ask the MB service to send me all the information that they have if you think necessary.
Thank you so much for help.

Hello, Gabriel,
Yes, Just reply your PM .
P0A1E00 is the inverter problem . 0A1F04 is the problem of BMS. Give more information into the BMW for actual value will more helpfully.
