Mercedes S W221 Abs Problem
Steering is hard, parktronic not working bilnd spot ...
Fault code 5909 control unit n47-5 internal fault
the steering going hard, will be as its impacted by the faulty speed information it receives via the ABS system (for the variable assistance)
not sure which n47-5 is if that's the ABS module then its could be a very standard ABS fault common to many manufacturers - oddly more rare on a Mercedes than most others
intriguingly two different units with different failure mode?
CL-Class ABS pump and module malfunction will cause fault codes to be stored for 5944 – ESP control unit internal fault, this will illuminate the ABS warning light and prevent the full operation of the emergency braking system.
CL-63 AMG this ABS from the Mercedes CL is a common failing component causing the abs light to illuminate when plugged in to diagnostics you may find fault code 5066 – Power Supply A7/3M1 High Pressure Return Pump, 5001 – Control Unit N30/4 (Electronic Stability Program Control Unit) Internal Fault or faults for wheel speed sensors or in some occasions you may find you are unable to communicate with the control unit.
lots of fun on BMS with this very fault - on the BMW R1200GS you can pull it apart and swap to a ford fiesta brush pack that's far better made !!!
