Apologies for no pictures.
I spent the day today sorting out the illumination as it looks dated AF.
so basic idea is, buy a roll of led strip lighting. Solder; soldering iron, some med gauge wiring,
to do, you need to remove the door cards.
Front
There is a t30 bolt in the storage hole under a cover and a t30 in the bottom storage shelf area.
Once the card is off, you can see the 7/8 t20 holding the strip on. Remove.
I disassembled the stock led and removed the clear tube. Stuck leds on the bottom and soldered in.
back,
there is two t30 in the bottom storage area to remove the card. Remainder is same as front.
dashboard.
remove the two side panels on the dash (fuse box) to access the t30 on each side. Unclip the centre vent just in front of the comand. There is a t20 in here.
pry the dash to pull off: there is 5 wire connectors inside to remove before being loose.
the dash has a break in the led for the steering so I trimmed two seperatw strips and attached.
done
i went with a 5m 2835 from Amazon. If costed me £9.99. It took a full day to do it. I used single colour white, which is dimming through the comand, as it uses voltage to regulate.
end result makes it all worth it.

Apologies for lack of diy pictures, I didn’t think to take any.
Now question for anyone, what sort of tape would smooth out the installation, e.g to make the leds less visable and uniform the light out a bit.
I kinda wish I’d gone for the cob strips to get the nicer look, but compared to the original in fully satisfied.

Pretty straight forward I am guessing when it comes soldering? On a scale 1-10 how hard of a job is the soldering ? Also I think I found the Cobb lights you are talking about
In all honesty, I’m not a particularly competent solderer, but I managed it okay. I wouldn’t worry too much. If you wanted to give it a shot, to make sure you can do it, maybe try and solder some leads on to a smaller strip first. Or you probably buy some 1m strips that have leads attached.

Just a quick question but is 5m long enough to do the entire job ? Or do I need 2 rolls of 5m?
