2009 Mercedes Says Battery Not Charged
I just recently bought a 2009 s600 and this is really the only problem. I've seen many other threads about it so I do plan on taking it to a dealer if I'm not able to fix it myself. As the title suggests. The gauge cluster just says Battery not charged in red and it doesn't go away. The steering wheel buttons on the left side don't work as well which I've also heard is caused by the battery not charged warning. Another thing that doesn't work oddly is the Bluetooth. Not sure what's going on with that one. The massage seats and the dynamic seats don't work which would probably be caused by the battery not charged warning as well. I know that it's not expensive too get it fixed but if I can save time by diagnosing it myself then I would prefer that.

Could be battery however, members have reported faulty instrument cluster, battery sensor (incorporated into battery ground line), and MBUSA released attached Service Campaign for front pre-fuse box. Start with battery located in engine compartment checking voltage or replacement.

The dealer I bought it from said the battery in the engine bay was brand new so it shouldn't be that one. I also read that the problem could be fixed by doing I think it was called an IM update or something like that. Using CD's to update the systems I would assume.

I thought a RED battery light means something wrong with the charging system, an AMBER battery light refers to the battery charge itself. Also, don't you have two batteries? Maybe the second battery is the problem, called the "consumer" battery, usually located in the trunk.
