great thanks for the info - so I can see from the antenna it was factory fit the inner second antenna wire does NOTHING it was turned off years ago and never even broadcast in the UK and of course its showing on the data card

Its the early DAB only unit - you could get one second hand online for about £100 its PLUG and PLAY no coding !!!

comandonline do an after-market better quality DAB+ plug and play unit for 499 fitted so might just get the tuner for 300 !!! the new one does both DAB and DAB+ the difference is like Standard def TV to 1080P they went too early and DAB needs to much bandwidth - they invented better more robust compression with a additional error correction systems on DAB+ totally different tuner and broadcast.

please can you get me date of the SW its just out of sight by the bracket last few bits - there is a firmware update to SW 2219020400 SW 08.49 but if you unit is dead I expect its dead

There is a later Merc DAB tuner that MIGHT fit you can get even cheaper secondhand (I have one I can plug in and get a few channels but I can't control tuning only find presets the original car had, its patchy and sounds nasty !!! and it needs an update for the >99 channel bug and to enable DAB+ tuner it has build in. I can't find out if it was supported with software on the W221 without spending more than buying the better DAB+ Tuner from comandonline



mine as is (black tuner), is running this software now (but I see your tuner is a slightly later version of mine 2008 so it possible there even newer software for yours BUT unlikely)

 

hey might be worth a TRY - unplug the DAB band 3 antenna (the only one used is the one at the outermost edge of the tuner casing) maybe its finding something and thrown an issue - but unlikely as I don't get how that could put the MOST in a tailspin

the idea of all these technology shifts and platform switch off is to SELL our air space for the intrusive spying to control the slaves - all rather too easy as marketing departments have made these phone apps that are too addictive and they already can't put down their tracking devices... will make them easy to pick off (they can start with the subversive ones). I'm still not convinced your AMP isn't going unstable - mine took 6 months to die (that's normal - sometimes it works other it doesn't) that FM display vanishing with every other feature (aside from no sound) is the usual clue its the AMP
