Major mistake on my part
I messed up big time tonight with my s class. I have star c3 computer and I was turning different features as well upgrading some software that was available for offline programming. Unfortunately like an idiot I hit the option to reset the car to factory. This basically wiped out all the hardware and software on most parts in the car. I exited the DAS program and when I re entered DAS it said it couldn’t read my car and I had to enter vin # . My guess is that the only one that can fix this is dealership, right? I feel like a fool. The mileage shows up and I can still use some options but I have attempted to drive the car cause I am quarantining cause my son tested positive for Covid. My guess is that the Mercedes dealership would be able to pull up my necessary software for my car and download directly from Germany database

Did you "just" reset the CGW? I cannot see how to reset everything to factory settings by mistake.
You could try to version code everything manually on the CGW. Cannot remember if the standard version coding menu allows this, if not, then developer menus. Obviously safest and simplest to let the MB workshop do it on-line.

I want to give a special thanks to DieselBenz for his help. He pointed me in the right direction and I am grateful l.
Thanks for all the responses. I have it all sorted out. I simply re-flashed the CGW using the offline feature on my star c3. It fixed all the issues and the car is running perfectly fine. I was laughing when I saw that Botus copied this thread to another thread on this forum and said that “ I trashed everything” . Being alive 44 years I believe the only things that are for sure is death and paying taxes.. everything else can be fixed or replaced. If I wasn’t able to fix it at home I a few friends that were at Mercedes dealerships that I could have simply called and them figure it out. When I originally started this thread it was like 1 AM and was looking to get some input from other members who may have knowledge in this topic. This forum is used for people to get help and help others. Not for members to bash each other.

it was very fortunate you had a way to unravel - or it was - as u said undrivable and muddled - glad you sorted it - and nice to see DieselBenz's contribution, I see he was posting great help and advice around other forums (and this one) for many years

They are great to work on, problem is getting good tools to work on them
driving a originally tagged 200k + car then try to safe 300$ makes no sense. If you are not able to pay the right tools or for a non DIY, the dealer. Then you should buy a LADA
you'll end up with big problems with all these penny-saving solutions or at the dealer. and the dealer will rape your wallet

who made you "ninja" of these cars? did you do it yourself? are you the only one capable of doing this? the easy answer is "no." so, you screwed around with yours or others' cars until you learned.

ninja,
I have worked on many cars .. including my 2007 Porsche 911 twin turbo. Recently I replaced all the modules under the front 2 seats of the s550 when it got water in it. I have done so many projects in this car that I believe my knowledge has past the normal DIY weekend warrior. I also couldn’t do it with out this forum. Yes, you need the right tools but you also have to tinker around and make mistakes to learn. I believe your comments are laughable to say the least and also the person who responded to you was spot on. Before you learned how to walk you crawled, no? My car is 14 years old and has 172k miles on it. I run the risk of working on it cause I enjoy learning. I won’t rebuild my transmission or engine as that is beyond my abilities but the simple stuff I am able to do. I put in custom led lighting system on all 4 of my doors plus dashboard which looks flawless. I have installed rear heated seats as well as a massage option those very seats as well. I completely rewired the trunk wiring in the s as the previous owner had an absolute mess there. So I would think before you pass a comment like you did I would think about it first. I am aware you are trying to sell your product and that’s fine. I already have star c3 system and know very well it’s capabilities.

Hi,
i somehow managed to do the exact same thing you did a couple of years ago, i also started going crazy i just lost my car until i saw this forum and it gave me BACK hope. Im not sure what you did exactly, can you please tell me in some detail what you did? please
The only reason i was there is becuase i had a code saying "Control Unit N93 is defective"
does that mean i should change it anyways ?
