Aftermarket Headlights on Facelift S550

Was curious if anyone had run these headlights before? I've seen a few cars floating around the internet with them but nobody has done a proper write up. Says they're only for 2007-09 cars but I've seen a few facelift cars with them. I'll reach out to Spyder tomorrow to get an answer on that. I not particularly impressed by the performance of the headlights on the W221 so I wouldn't mind gambling with these. Really like how they look. Anyone have feedback? Bueller??

Is that your opinion based on experience or just your opinion? The OEM lighting is not impressive.

It's not an opinion at all, it's the truth.

Fair enough. I can tell from our conversation on another one of my threads you’re more a traditionalist. Still not impressed with the OEM setup.

Does anyone have actual hands on experience?

Ah, you're the Designo guy. Cool. Just saw your listing. Why not keep the other 2012? Good price though, car looks nice.

I'm not necessarily a purist by any means, but throwing chicom junk on an S Class is just downright sacrilegious!

I’ve only upgrade the rear lights on my pre-facelift but they are marketed as only for 2007-2009 because they include a resistor to avoid the car triggering an fault. The LEDs use less current so the face lifted models expect a different response when the car checks for issues - the resistor fixes this. I’d expect using pre-facelift targeted products would cause error codes on a post-facelift car. Most manufacturers make stuff for both though, check AliExpress since that’s where 99% of the stuff comes from anyway.

Hopefully makes sense. Re adding Chinese components - you do you. Personally I’ve had decent luck in terms of quality. Don’t do anything that’s not reversible or that you can’t afford to write off if it fails is my advice, especially since headlights not being up to your local laws can mean your car isn’t roadworthy.
