Retrofit AMG Cluster.
Gents - a good friend, inquires about the possibilities of retrofit an AMG instrument cluster in his 500 facelifted. I have read that there are two options, either a recoding of the current instrument cluster, or buying an original AMG Cluster and installing this. As I understand it, both options require an encoding of the car's mileage and other car data. Is it correct ? And what should be used for the coding of the "new" instrument cluster?

should be possible but not easy - plus the red line will be some 800rpm too high - the ignition switch and cluster are linked from an immobiliser perspective and getting the mileage to match up will be some fun
dependant upon age / cluster model its brain might have enough space to force on the AMG programming - but then u r stuck with nasty graphics around the speedo and a hideous cheap boot up logo
shame they couldn't just charge $100 to enable the other menu set some of which have useful elements
