2010 S550 Massaging Seats NotWOrking

Worked fine a few weeks ago on both sides. Tried initiating from System console and the button I have set for auto massage once pushed,no luck. The system window on screen allows movement toall functionsm however when I select a setting 104 it reverts abck to the o or off setting. Any suggestions? Anyone suspect a fuse may be blown and if so can anyone identify the location of the fuse as there are 5 or 6 fuse locations. TIA.

I had this same problem not that long time ago. I tried changing settings but every time it went back to zero. Both seats had the same problem.

The issue was air leak at the reservoir where the pressure safety valve had failed, i.e. the reservoir did jot hold enough pressure for the system to work.

Had to buy the whole reservoir as MB dealer did not sell just the safety valve. The valve is easy to change and I'm sure it is available in Europe but not here in the U.S.

Changing the reservoir with the new valve fixed my seat problem.

It could be some other leak too but this is what happened to me.

Same here on my 2008. The pump then burned out trying to pump into a leaking system. MB had to replace multiple parts in my system, pretty much rebuilding the entire passenger seat massage mechanics (cost $8000, but warranty covered nearly everything). Watch some YouTube videos...some people have had luck making simple fixes with tubing bought at a hardware store, sealing leaking bags back up, etc. You could always buy used parts on Ebay, too. Interestingly after all that work, my system is intermittently failing again, with selection number immediately going back to zero. I've now got some codes on the driver side. But it works okay for now...seems to happen more on long drives, so I'm not in a hurry to take it back in.

It won’t cost you $8,000, but it will require effort on your part if you want it fixed. The easiest diagnosis is an air leak. Try adjusting the bolsters, lumbar, etc right when you turn the car on to see if they hold air. It’s a start.

half the time the fault is the module playing silly buggers - sometimes is stays happy for 6 months others it will pretend to play up twice in a week - some claim remaking the 6 multiplug connections helps - I swapped the module for a later one and it worked without a bug for 2 years - mine it claimed it was unhappy at the weekend I said no you're not, and it agreed

funny the rear one was pretending a lot a year back - hasn't come back since

Oh, you can do it for a lot less than that...I just happened to have a warranty, so I got the full dealer service experience and price. Lots of folks here have made repairs for sometimes just a few dollars. It is a great feature to have on your car.

I think I have a small leak on my lumbar system (no massage). It does inflate and stays for a while but eventually I go back in and it's at 0. It should be WAY simpler and maybe just a line or something but not sure where to dig in first...

Was that response to me? If so, is the module really the same for all seats?

it was aimed at those having fun with seats that pretend not to work

they did update the module - that's what I fitted - no coding just bolt it in - I think all three are the same - this was discussed lots of times - one guy just re did the connections and claimed his was fixed

its the easiest job ever on a car - two screws at the base of the seat back (that incredibly go back in the same place easily !!!!) remove the trim there it is - with a big sticker saying 240 volt danger - if not driven for 24 hours - unlock the car DO NOT put key in the ignition (and if keyless get it well away from the car) and just get on with the job nothing funny happens

looks for a post about it - https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...g-fixed-b.html - has some pictures of leaks all over the seat - knogistiger's repair bits is a great post - most dealers say not available and when you look all the other models have baby pipes and connectors that are no use on a 221

dynamic seats (that are also massaging) and can be set to wear out on corners

air leaks are not uncommon

I have the base seats with lumbar only. Does this module thing apply to me, as well?

Your vehicle is equipped with f & r climate seats no codes indicate dynamic / multi-contour / massage. Lumbar - check f127 (pump) @ rear fuse panel, pump, CU, leaks. View valve, etc. here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/16494988364...3ABFBM6KnXqrtg

It stays pressurized for a little bit depending on how bad the leak is. Mine did this first as the system tried to work but when the pump runs long enough it trip out for overheating. If you wait long enough it will try again after cooling down.

A place to start is right at the pump. I don't know where your pump is located at but mine is built inside the rear seat backrest. I could heat the leak thru the failed safety valve but if the leak is small it is difficult to hear.

Of course, it can be a leak in anywhere in the system but if all seat functions are out it must be something that is common for them all, which is the reservoir tank and line from there to supply the seat valves.

That build sheet is wrong. I don't have rear climate seats, AMG sportshift trans or Burmeister audio. I also don't have dynamic, multi-contour or massage anything.

Yeah I noticed it on my long road trip. It inflates fine but hours later I'll check and realize it's back at 0. Then it will inflate again to whatever I want. I feel like both seats do that actually so that does suggest a common leak source. I'll check it out at some point. It's not a pressing issue though. I found these seats extremely comfortable even on the 8+ hour days we did.

Hey Botus, I have the same issue. All seat functions stopped at the same time.
My DoIP shows that there is a pressure leak and that the seat air pump is running and
overheating.

This pointed me to a leak, rather than the modules ?

Your thoughts please ?
