S550 4Matic motor mounts HOW DO YOU GET THEM IN???
Hi all again, i am doing motor on a 2008 s550 4Matic got the old ones out no issues. Getting the new ones in however ???
Looks like i have to at the very least drop the sway bar to get it in on the drivers side and remove the alternator for the passenger side.
Is there an easier way?
I saw some posts people were able to slide the motor side to side to get it in but i am 100% missing something there. To me it looks like once the front diff shafts hit the frame that's it?

this is a guess - take the drive shafts out - it would be quicker than fighting the other bits ?
didn't konigstiger post the how to merc docs ?

I am going to try to compress the mount with a clamp. shove it in (hopefully) then clip the zip tie.

I've done this job on a 20007 4Matic. The new ones go in fine but you have to have the engine lifted enough. The passenger side goes in from the front and you have to remove the alternator mounting bracket but not the alternator, The driver side goes through rear and you need to disconnect the steering which is not that big of a deal. Got the mounts in.... Chaged a coolant hose while down there... I squshed the mounts with a clamp and then hose clamped l, snuck it past alternator an cat. On the other side.. clamping made life sooo much easier...

nice idea on the clamps - didn't like the sound of the cable tie
I hope anyone playing here is well away from the starter wiring
