SOS Tele Aid Inoperative message on instrument cluster

I have a strange new issue on my 07 S550. I'm getting the SOS Tele Aid Inoperative message on the instrument cluster intermittently. My Tele Aid system is deactivated and the messages from Tele Aid to instrument cluster are turned off. I've confirmed all this with Xentry. The fault code shows is that there is no communication with the SOS button. I can clear it, but it comes back. Is there any way to shut this down completely with Xentry? I would love to find a checkbox that says "Present/Not Present" like some of the other options. I really don't want to have to troubleshoot a circuit or source parts for a deactivated system.

all modern cars need posh dealer tools (or very high end others circa $5000) to talk to the car the right way and get at hidden parts of the software.... most dealer's can't do it, as legit dealer tools have the good stuff disabled (to stop the mcdonalds burger flippers doing something silly)

BenzNinja sells a package that's far more affordable to get at and do stuff merc don't want you too

On BMWs and a few other makes some of the software is less difficult to work with and there are after market kid's toy phone apps that can get at and destroy your BMW - bimmertool or such - much harder to find anything sensible like that for merc, but a few have pretended there is these days

If you system is set up to do offline programming, try updating the Tele Aid to the new digital version that can use the now defunct mBrace, that may solve your problem.

It is but I suspect the hardware or wiring harness to be the culprit. Upgrading to the digital system would give me the same fault. When I get a little time, I'll dig around in Xentry again. I did shut off messages from Tele Aid to Instrument Cluster but I didn't look in the SRS System. I believe Tele Aid communicates with it and reports faults so MB will know if an airbag was activated. If that fails, I'm going to try to unplug the harness or at least the remote buttons to the harness. One message at startup would be preferable to sometimes getting a message every few minutes, sometimes not.

Hi BenzNinja. I see the services that you offer and I do like what I see. You seem to be well respected on this site. I would love to fix this myself but I may not be able to with the tools that I have. Would your services be appropriate for someone like me since I only need the one issue handled? I don't think I'm interested in paying big bucks to customize my Mercedes like some of your other customers.

Hi there! May you help with an advice please? W221 ‘08, my TeleAid is Digital, not MOST one, I have “NOT FITTED”:
  1. CGW
  2. AB (digital signal monitoring)
  3. IC
  4. System Diagnosis
  5. COMAND

The message is still there, cleared errors/events in AB and IC - it returns. Many forums either explain it for <w220 or analogue Teleaid, so instructions do not really fit. Also, when I just visit COMAND screen of DAS - it tells me “DTA does not answer”. What did I miss?
